I have had next to no trouble that wasn't caused by me or spyware, when the time comes that this 2.0 GHz notebook is to be replaced I will stongly consider buying another Dell only refurbished. *But* next to no support as they are still a pain in the neck to work with. I know for a fact that Dell is in the Blu-Ray camp so it's my judgement by the time I need a new notebook it might have a Dell Blu-Ray DVD ROM in it, not DVD+R/RW it's just not needed a DVD ROM would be though. It would sure would help my depression if I got a well inspected and new parts for the refurbished Notebook.

I bought a refurbed D600 about six months ago. Perfect condition - like new cosmetically.

Problem free operation. May buy a refurbed 8600 next month - be curious to see if it's also like new. One thing I have noticed, sometimes Dell will have a 'group' of refurbs - say 20 or 30 identical laptops all at he same time. Canceled order from some corp? Or, just 'overflow' that Dell wants to unload? In other words - apparently new computers, never shipped before.

If you do order a refurb and it's less than perfect, just send it back -

When I bought my 8600 new in Feb, my problem was that I couldn't find one used/refurbed that had what I wanted that was much of a deal. Mine had the free DVD burner upgrade as well as $250 off. And going through my company yielded another 10%. It's not that I wouldn't buy refurb, just couldn't justify the price and features against the one I bought.

capcd it sounds logical, If as Dellbert says my machine is king of the hill, even in a sarcastic way he is right. Where can you get such a refurbished Notebook like mine for the low price I paid which was $350 lower than my Swedish high priced matress the only difference is the mattress still has 1 19 year warranty on it where Dell makes you pay if you want the extra coverage, youall know what I am talking about. Too bad Dell doesn't build machines as good as the Swedish mattress firm and can say your new Dell machine has a warrany of 20 years as my mattress says in writing on the warrany I have tucked away in my warranties folder in my file cabinet.

The Dell refurbished helped me print out my 6 month in car insurance since I got the insurance online they take their $636 every 6 months and e-mail me a 6 month you paid and your 2005 Subaru Legacy is covered from 1/26/2005 to 7/26/05 and it was necessary for my I8600 to send the correct information to my Canon MP370 printer via USB cable which it did and now I have a good as gold paid for insurance card to be with you or in the car when you or anyone else drives the car printed document accepted by PenDot(PeNsylvania Department Of Transportation) the Dell Refurbished machine is IMO worth looking into unless you have to have new.

The only thing you can't buy used by law is a Mattress, I humbly believe that has to be obeyed in every state.
