Agile, you play the "brand" card wherever you are and its annoying.

Do I? I was unaware of that. I am sorry if it comes across that way. Also man, I was kind of upset at those replies - I did not go off on some wild flames and tried to explain myself rather respectfully albeit sarcastically in some places.

Difference here is that we are a community, not an official forum run by any company.

Very true and it is an admirable thing to be into something and find people with similar passions.

Bottom line is you other guys DON'T. You use it as a common ground and rally around your masters.

Yeah, its a company site and there are total Voodo fanboys there. But I do try to remain objective. Oftentimes I cannot express my opinion. Like for example, I like my Voodoo m860 notebook, but it is not as great as I expected it was going to be. If I were to buy a notebook now, I'd go with the 7700. In many ways I think AW has cheesed out, but more so on their desktops. The reason I feel this way is because I had a predator and it was rather unique until everybody and their brother started having one.

But in many ways this site might as well be a company site. But I see you guys being pretty lax with people posting stuff and being fair and objective. A while back I would see you freak when guys posted other companies. Frankly I was shocked when you started to get more open and let people talk about other systems and post other systems. So kudos to you.

At the Voodoo site, they have people come and and go. And regulars whether a Voodoo owner or not are welcome there. ANd some of the harshest critics of Voodoo are the owners themselves. I know you have seen this raig. From time to time I may defend Voodoo when I see people making false claims or misdirecting frustration. I know you see people blaming AW for say a bad PSU when it is the psu manufacturer's fault not AWs. You see what I am getting at. We like our systems and we defend them when necessary and voice our opinions. But I do not arbitrarily bash other systems. They have other people for that. When I system sucks and I think it sucks, then I say it. I don't say a system sucks because it is a certain brand. You can see that in my posts.

Now I liked my Area-51m even though it did have some stability issues. The case was the best I have seen. The magnesium alloy chassis is wonderful.

And I get miffed when I see people posting about bad AW tech support. I never had any problems with them for tech support or RMAs. They sent me a new BFG 5950, a dvd combo drive for my 51m, and replaced my mnotherboard on my Aurora without any problems. So I am a big fan of that.

And may my opinion change? My opinions change with the times? Just because I state an opinion one day does not mean that it is going to be the same thing the next day. New developments happen and new knowledge comes to light. Ya know? Occasionally I may say the wrong thing or do not get the point across that I am trying to make.

But thanks man. Obviously I have to tighten up a bit. Things like this happen in life to teach you lessons. It just mad me aware that I was not being more discerning and unclear in my posts.

For that I should thank you.

Craig, also this isn't a Voodoo avatar. I am just a fan of the occult and the supernatural. It's more like a tribal mask. Though I can see the similarity.

Anyway man. Thanks . This was fun. Have a wonderful and safe holiday.

Why would you take part somewhere that you know you'd be ostricized if you actually spoke well of a certain entity (read: AW)? Imagine if you told the guys over there in an open forum that you'd buy the 7700? My god they'd have your head...and would probably delete the thread when no one was looking b/c you're a Voodoo owner.

Yet if you came here and said you wanted to buy an M860, we'd probably all wish you the best and ask for pics and a review if possible. That's my issue with that crowd and I sincerely apologize if I'm taking it out on you personally. I just see so much of it in what I do here.

What are they offering over there but negativity towards anything other than V? I tried to take part over there once and was blasted for owning an AW. And their "Mod" team does nothing but feed that fire. It's so sad.

You have so much more to offer to a community like this one or Anandtech than those guys...it just pains me to see you do that dance for all of those tools. You'd probably never log in over there again if you know some of the stuff we've caught them trying to do on these forums to tear down other brands and build up their own...all the way to the top if you know what I mean.

You're a good person and I respect your WOO (winning over others) ways. Please take that to the bank and use it around here to some good...we can use all the good we can get these days!

ehehehe this is amusing
I appreciate that reply. Yes, I ahve seen the good, the bad, and the ugly, and I haven't always been perfect.

One has to wonder why people post in the forums in the first place? for attention? To bash? To instigate with people? To learn? to contribute? Or a combination of these and other things?

I'd like to think that I want to learn and contribute? I have a thirst for knowledge. My sinceest regrets to those that I offend and I will try to post with more discretion and really think about what I post rather than post with reckless abandon or refrain from posting without getting my clear point or intentions across. We have to take dialogue, debate, and discussion as a positive thing. It's not like we are discussing religion or politics!!! Sheesh, It can get heated and I can get that way myself.

And yes, that is unfortuante when people jump or tear down other brands. But if truth be told some brands deserve to be brought down but not in an emotional and unprofessional way. It should be done more for deception, fraud, fleecing, and the like. But certain companies try to create a subculture around their products through marketing and it backfires on them. It is a fine line between being a fan, and being a fanboy; knowing what is good and telling others "caveat emptor." We run on emotion too much. I take all of this as a learning epxerience even though I felt vilified for a bit. It's all good.

We are all influenced by marketing and conspicuous consumption to some degree. It is ALL a matter of degrees, everything in life that is.

That is a shame you were flamed for being an owner of a certain brand. Well, there is that quote: "There is no arguing taste." We all have personal opinions and preferences,. We should respect other people's choices but we can also point out our opinions to inform others. And that is what it is really all about. Informing each other. SOme do it to make themsleves feel better or brag. I may do it untactflluy from time to time, but it is with sincere intentions.

I have alwasy said that I might buy another Alienware - I am waiting to see this long-awaited Alienware Aurora 64m with pci-e.

On another point about the "other" forum. Yes some guys and employees bash and also hype their product. But many do not and some owneers, like I said can be brutally honest about their experience and the problems they are having.

All too often we se people voice their dismay rather than their satisfaction.

Yes, I am aware of what goes on at that place and other forums. I usually take it with a grain of salt, but it makes me think. Sometimes, people are not always who they seem they are or who we think they are. Even though people can hide behind a veil olr hide behind anonymity, people are pretty good with intuition or gut feeelings over the internet. Experienced users can usually pick out the fraud a mile away. I hate to bust the guy out, but as convincing as he sounds, cpu master or whatever he annointed himself as, was about as notcieable as a butch dyke around models. (no offense butch dykes). there is a lot of he said, she said, and it is a shame. Sometimes you have to go on faith and sometimes there is hard evidence. I have even pointed out to "higher ups," that they should not comport themselves in that way. It is just unprofessional even if we are human.

Also, I appreciate the compliments. Very kind and honest of you. I am humbled by that.

Hey what's with the Sales Rep Forums? Are you a Sales Rep for a company? Just curious. So when do I get my moderator status?
Heh...

Ya when I'm not loosing my mind here...I am a sales manager
post #47 of 93
Well I am all too happy to contribute to the disintegration of your mind...............................hahahahaha!

Oh and another thing before I lay this thing to rest. Again, I talk to Nomiad via e-mail from time to time. i am sure that he did not take this as a personal attack nor was it intended to be. He knows I applauded him on his choice and I am glad that he is content with it.

This is what is advertised on his site. Nomiad may or may not have move the wires but I expected more. And agiain, just to clarify, I stated that I doubt that this was really characteristic of their wiring jobs. That is why I joked it moust have been done on Monday morning.

Sorry if I offended you Nomiad.

In the age of reality TV and voyeurism, I think Craig, myself, and others did a pretty goof job making a dramatic and interesting thread. We needed one.

Oh well, a happy ending and no one got "you're fired" thrown on them.

DB, you even surpass me in sick humor.

Funnily enough here's a cool tour of Falcon

Maybe, Alienware, Voodoo, Hypersonic, Thunderbox, and Overdrive will accomodate us with such a view into the inner sanctum of their companies.
ALX customers get a VIP tour of the ALX facilities.
And as for Falcon, I will be spending XMAS about 40 miles from Medford where the facility in the article (in Grants Pass). I would rather go to Miami to visit AW personally.

Damn, I was hoping nobody noticed that. I was either too excited or by playing old Nintendo games, I did more damage to my grammer then I thunk. Time to review the phonics tapes. Anyways, I didn't take anything personal with the wiring stuff. Like Old Agile said, we've sent emails back and forth during our wait time for these systems and I know he didn't mean any insult. It's not like he posted on here how great the system was and then posted on Voodoo what an idiot I was for buying it. Like I said on the first page, I would have liked to see rounded cables that lit up and shit but was happy that they were all tied out of the way of the mobo. Falcon doesn't use these kind of cables anyways and to me they're just cosmetic. I am still, however, very upset about the insults directed to my desk and demand an immidiate apology from all who participated in this verbal attack.

Back to this wiring job, from the pic Old Agile posted from Falcon's site, my system really doesn't look that much different. They just shot the photo from a different angle and didn't include all the mass of cabling that rests behind the optical/hard drives.

After cropping the original, it looks just about the same to me. If I had only done this yesterday.

I am extreamly Happy that this has all worked out

Agile I know that you didnt mean any disrespenct in anything that you have posted and or did but I can see why something like this has happend but I would really like to back you up in saying that I have know your for some time now man, and you have treated me with all of the respect in the world, and have told people no to make fun at my nOoBiShnEss because I am your bro.

Also you have never worn a too faced life or etc... you tell it how it is and have the extreamly sweet expression of "Hell You Only Live Once" (which if i may add is also my expression too lol )
Well I spoke too soon...read down to Agile's post where he quotes my review and uses it in a derogatory way: http://www.voodoopc.com/boards/messa...712&forum=1027

Agile, I don't care if this was a month ago...this is the kind of crap that makes me livid. Absolutely the lamest, chicken shit mofo move I've ever seen out of anyone on any forum...ever.

At least have a pecker in your jeans and don't try to hide that you're a boot licker over at those other forums...I've caught you too many times now playing both sides and I'm sickened by it.

It's a shame you didn't quote where I mentioned how being a brand whore/fan boy is ruining this community as we know it...You are what's wrong with this world...and most of the message boards on the internet...and to think I even accepted your apology.

Just leave. Go back over there where they can't see your other side...like we can.
Gladly. I can see that continued discourse on this is a futile endeavor.

Ovbiously you won't "bury the hatchet."

Of course, one behaves differently in various fourms - you may know other people there, you may know what you can get a away with, you may not "denounce" a product that is a favorite of the board regulars that you are in, etc.

I tried to balance those demands and try not to step on othe people's toes. Conversely, I tried not to be "two-faced" about it, but I suppose it was taken the wrong way. I am sorry about that. That was not my intention.

I own 3 Voodoos so obviously I am a fan of them. But I am a fan of other comapnies and do not align myslef with one particular company. However, there are other elements involved do not have the inclination to disclose.

Additionally, if you knew me personally you would know that I strive for integrity, honesty, knowledge, and generosity.

Maybe I acted rashly or in a "bad" manner, but what is done is done. Furthermore, I am not going to retract anything that I have said and make no apologies for doing them. I can simply say I may have been uick to judge or wrong in my assertions. But we can change our opinions from time to time.

But thank you again. You have made me really think about my posts and what they really mean.

I shall be here no more. You have categorically made me feel terrible and unwanted. Thank you again. You're a great man and a great moderator. The personification of professionalism and unbiased assessments.

Yes, I did quote your review, which was incredibly good. May I disagree with some of your assessments? Don't take it personally. ANd yes, sometimes I have a caustic side and use inflammatory verbiage and can come across as an arrogant ass - I'm trying. Part of this derives from the fact I owned a Predator case and strongly disagree with them. I iused to extol the virtues of that case. then I sold it and I got the Voodo case, and was amazed at the fully aluminum case and its quality. So after being shocked when I first got my Alienware, I deluded myself into thinking that it was really a good case (it's decent). then I snapped out of it and reformed my opiniion of the case. Furthermore, getting the Voodoo case made me angry about that whole ordeal. It was a good PC but not as good as my current one.

Now, when people openly denouce Alienware here you freak. Have you really seen me do that? So I try to act in a respectful manner here (for the most part) and not jump down people's throats. I enjoy congratulating people on their purchases. Furthermore, have I evenn tried to change people's minds and tell them to buy other stuff. I was just trying to read carefully. Now I may have been out of line with that quote and I am sorry for it. I didn;t know you then and I don't know you now, and what we do know of each other is not too peachy. Can I voice my opinions? I did so in the other forum as respect to you. And contrary to what you say, not all non-voodoo memebers are flamed there. Oftentimes I defend Alienware, but am disappointed with them. And that has been growing as I have seen the number of satisfied customers dwindle.

You have obviously taken much of this out of context and in the wrong way. And do not preach to me about morals. What do you know about morality? Which moral system do you believe in? How about Kantianism? Maybe Rousseau's variant of the social contract? Bah. I must just be a dissolute and immoral being.

But again, sorry for the rift. Good luck in your future endeavors. Later.

I think I'll let the rest of the members here speak their thoughts. Since I'm obviously not fit to moderate or even DEFEND MYSELF by your standards (you question my morals and standards?) we'll let the group speak their mind.

You are caught red handed, several times trashing members of these very forums and their machines, and yet still do not take any moral responsibility...just like Martha Stewart...right up until they slammed the door on her cell she could not see anything wrong in what she did.

Narcissistic behavior by one with too much disposible income...you're much like Martha come to think of it.

Enjoy your Voodoos, AW's and whatever else it is you buy to fill the endless void inside of you.
If he has voids to fill up I can loan him the legendary Big Black Mamba.
