burnintest errors-need help

someone explain to me someone about the burnintest program. i bought the 700m with 1.8 Ghz processor but the burnintest says my cpu speed is only 598 MHz. also the Disk 0 says that there are lots of errors because there's not enough space. i don't understand what's wrong. can someone explain this to me please.

ok now i did a fresh diagnose and the processor benchmark results are:

1. whetstone FPU = 5,660 MWIPS
2. dhrystone ALU = 6,754 MDIPS
4. speed = 1840 MHz
5. the cpu multimedia benchmark index = 3,468
6. memory benchmark; integer assignment = 86, 867
6. write speed = 13.28; read speed 12.89

I tried to google those terms but i don't really understand what they mean--especially with the whet and dhry stuff. although the chart is helpful, i want to compare this with other 700m machines to check if my results are comparable. thanks.

I don't have a 700m so I can't compare result but I can tell you that the reason your CPU speed only read 598 MHz is because of the Speedstep Technology. It lowers the processor speed to save power to ~600 MHz. I believe it can also lower it down to ~200 MHz. Do a search on power management or better yet research SpeedswithXP here on the forums and that should tell you all you need to know.

Hope that helps,

Martian

Speedstep is a function of the Pentium M processors

When you go into the BIOS, there is a setting to Enable/Disable SpeedStep.
