Wandering Trackpad

i just got a second hand Dell Inspiron 4000 and its has a wondering trackpad that sometimes goes to the top right hand corner or the bottom left is there any thing you guys can suggest to help with this problem. thx

I think you mean 'wandering'.... I have changed the thread title accordingly to avoid confusion. Try reinstalling the touchpad drivers to see if it helps.

My i4000's trackpad did the same thing. That's why I got a new computer.

Well, partially; I cleaned the touchpad and disabled the pointing stick and things improved drastically. Maybe it's just that, I don't know.

My 4100 had the same problem. I installed the new touchpad driver with the control to disable the pointing stick (hate pointing stick), and the problem is fixed. I wonder if the problem has to do with a defective pointing stick, but mine appeared as if something was applying pressure on the stick.

I had the same problem with my I8000 when it was under warranty. Dell replaced the touchpad and the problem went away.

thx i think that solved the problem it hasnt happend in a day or so
