= Why doesn't AW offer the newest, newest, newest piece of vaporware that came out yesterday (that won't make a much of a difference performance-wise)? Waaaa!

And Why not?

M739pd:

And Why not if other can why cant they do the same??
And from what i have read AW say that they use the top of the line hardware and today that is the top of the line or not?
And for the other hand I was reading these forum too many time ago and looking for information about these machine, and I have found that many pepole here have make those question here and there separate and have not responce for them but I need some anwser so I can chose the option to change from sager to alienware
I like what I have read form AW but I like the high performance machine and top of the line hardware and best of the best in the laptop internals and externals parts. That is why I am comparing these to babys I think that they are the cream of the cream but have my questions and I need to answer them

I'm sorry. I made a stupid sarcastic statement. But I DO still believe that the 3.8g processor is way too new of an option for AW to carry. AW is a specialty company. They're not as rich, powerful and influential (so to speak) as the big guys. They undoubtedly WILL offer this processor eventually, but it'll take a little more time.
Again, I'm sorry.

Ok.
But why them dont offer the p4 3.4Ghz EE neither?
I need to know why these options are not offered by AW and if they will be offered soon, if so for when can we wait these options to be ready for ordering from AW becouse I will be very ungry if I chose one option and before my MAchine arrives to my house is there any of these options and becouse I will like to have them in the machine I want to buy.
How I say before I will like to have the best of the best the cream of the cream dont you?
And I think that AW can do that but I need those answers.... Hey Alienware people please any help!!!!

You can call AW and address these questions to them. Any answer here may not be definitive but speculation.

Considering where you live I would look elsewhere in purchasing a notebook. If you needed something repaired the wait could be ridiculous.

I'm basing this off the Sager 9860 which is identical, i'll be able to re-answer based on a 7700 next week when my sis's comes in.

well i can answer for the EE, its because the motherboard doesn't support the old, i forget what micron archetecture of the EE... they use a newer processor core, and the only PCI-E compliant lappy mobo doesn't support the EE...

heres a go at a few other answers

3. 3.8 O_o are you nuts... i have a 3.4 and this thing is already a space heater!!

5. Because SATA isn't standard even on the Sagers, its an add-in that PC-Torque can put in that couples with the same Controller as ATA100 RAID

6+7. because they're out of stock, even with PC-Torque... or were a while back.. my guess is that theres a stocking issue...

8. Yes, if you get 17" version... be carefull not to get the 15.6" one

9. Because its just overclocking software that you don't need because Nvidia lets you overclock the GPU with its included drivers.

The 3.8 ghz chip I think requires liquid cool; so far the only PCs I've seen carrying a 3.8 are all desktops....laptop fan and heat sinks probably cannot dissipate the heat sufficiently at this time?

the 3.8 doesnt have to be liquid cooled. it could easily go in a laptop, but its not needed.

www.hypersonic-pc.com I think they will answer your questions on the 3.8-they have it available,(on the pci-e DTR model) a good price hop from the 3.6-
post #14 of 19

3.8 is cool, litereally?

I understand from another string that the new 3.8 Laptop CPU's run cooler due to some fancy HO stepping or something... I have also wondered about the Extreme Edition as well, and the Alien Adrenaline. I sent AW a email about these two issues and have not heard back, I will let you all know if I do.
Yes, the 3.8Ghz P4 with E0 stepping has added thermal management and security so it will run cooler overall. This one is definitely a better value than the P4EE. I wouldn't be surprised if intel discontinues the P4EE all together since it's useless now.
Ah, I see. So when does the 3.8Ghz P4 w/ E0 stepping come out then? And would we be able to upgrade the 7700 with that?

You probably could upgrade but it would just be stupid to buy a new laptop just to upgrade it in a few months. Just wait until you can buy it with the options you want but by thin something else that is cooler will be coming out in a month or so and so on and so on.

It's a vicious Cycle

Yep as the Cycle goes on...
I had contemplated waiting for AW's AMD Based Laptop Aurora-M to come out next year... But I decided you know what if I don't get one now I will be constantly holding it off for the next best thing. So I decided I would wait until at least PCI-Express was available, so that I could at least upgrade there if needed. But with the 6800 Go I think I should be fine for a while... at least until my warranty runs out and it takes a dump on me

Heh, I'll probably upgrade the mobo when I'm going to max out on the RAM for the 7700...which will be quite a while anyways...as for waiting...I'm completely reliant on a Compaq Presario 2529 right now and it's utter hell...I really can't stand to wait any longer.
