Which 9200 panel do you have? - Page 15

If I compare first LCD with second one, I would say :

There is no difference in colour or clarity. The only difference is that there are less light leakage on the second one. The difference is very slight.

My second question is which hard disk/ DVD burner is better

Fuzitsu 5400 rpm --- Silent(New tech ??)
or
Mitsubishi 5400 rpm -- Slight noicy(retro ??)

and

SONY Dual layer DVD R/W 8X
or
NEC Dual layer DVD R/W 8X

Thanks.

Second one:

CPU temp and fan speed by i4fangui software:

At CPU usage: 2% -- CPU temp: 27 C -- Fan speed slow: 77400 rpm
-- Hard Disk temp: 28 C

At CPU usage: 100% -- Temp = 53 C – Fan speed slow: 80344 rpm
-- Hard Disk temp: 30 C

A piece of work (mpeg2 to divx encoding) is taking same time by both the machine.
In terms of display ( LCD) both are same with second one is a little less light leakage.

Please advice which machine should I keep or shall I ask them to swap the display panel from second to first one ?

WHAT?!?!?!? ARE YOU SURE YOUR FANS ARE SPINNING THAT FAST!!!!

I got a replacement that ran warmer than my original but had a better screen. I swapped out the displays. It is very easy just take your time with the plastic hinge cover. It is very easy to break if not taken off the right way.

I8kfanGUI does not report correct fan speeds on the 9200. No, they are not spinning that fast. We don't have little turbine engines in our laptops...yet.

You guys are very lucky you were able to get the Samsung replacement screens. I tried 5 times, with 5 different display screens being sent to me to get a Samsung. Every replacement display they sent was a Philips! I specifically requested a Samsung, Y4014, but I was sent a Philips every time.

Alexrud,

Did you pay 15% restocking fee and shipping chrage for after 21 days return? My 5th replacement LCD screen is coming today...Hope it's not another W4554. But...I think I have to follow the same way you did..

How about the HP dv1000 model? Any idea?

ami111,

I'm happy with fujitsu. Mitsubishi HDD? are you sure? Is it Mitsubishi?

Most of time....looks like people just swap the parts especially for HDD.

I just purchased an I9200 and it should be here next week.

1 W5410 Module,Liquid Crystal Display,17W+,Conexant Systems Inc., 9200,LG

According to the parts list this is the screen. I have not seen much feedback on the 5410. Should I be concerned about the quality of this panel?

Wow, that's a new one I think. What country are you in? Is that WU or WX?

I'm pretty sure W5410=T4976, but I don't think anybody has confirmed yet. About half the people love it, and half don't. It looked fine to me.
If that's the case, T4976 is what I am typing on now. I think it's a great screen. It does have a slight sparkle/anti-glare coating that you notice when you obsess about such things and type or read dozens of messages. But then again, you don't see your nose hairs reflected off the screen either.

How is it for playing games? I will mostly use it as a LAN machine and to play DVD's. Have a smaller machine for actual work

Thanks

I have watched Master and Commander from PHL - SFO and played World of Warcraft, Star Wars Galaxies, Elite Force 2, Ultima online, Chronicles of Riddick - escape from butcher bay and they're all great. I'm not much into first person shooters. I have no problems with the display - there is a buzz that comes out of the left mouse button on certain pitches of sound that is annoying. I don't hear it when playing games because the pressure of my hands keeps it from rattling and it doesn't hit that pitch much, but when playing CDs I certainly here it. I'm going to call for repair once I take a rest from Dell Hell.

My packing slip says W5411 but when I do the service tag thing on Dell, I get T4976 I also get T4976 when I check with the DOS program

Usually, W5411 is the Samsung, but sometimes Dell misenters the service tag info and you get the LG. The only way to be sure is to use get-edid, as you have done.

I have just finished a benchmark test of my i9200. The software I have used was 3Dmark05 Pro. The test was not very satisfactory. Some of the test games played so slowly ( at 1 or 2 FPS ) even on lower resolution settings. Is it beacause of chipset which supports only upto 4x AGP. Do anyone has the expireince of running 3D benchmark on their 9200. Let me know what do you think.

about 3dmark2005

You got 1 or 2 fps because some test in 3dmark only use the cpu for render, this will happend in any computer, other tests use the graphics card. Finally 9200 come with a good 9700 128M card but not as good as a x800 or nvidia 6600, 6800, and currently only a few notebooks come with mobile pci express cards.
