How to reformat acer aspire laptop drive?

Thread Starter
I have an Acer Aspire 2025 laptop which does not come with a windows disk. I have 3 or 4 recoverey disks which also installs all of acer's junk with it.

I tried copying the i386 folder from the hard drive onto a bootable cd , but when I boot with the cd and try to run winnt.exe I get an error which says setup cannot continue no place found for swap file. Anyway I can use this i386 folder to reformat the hard drive?

Thanks,

Are you just trying to save disk spac, if so, all you need to do is delete the "D" partition and that will recover about 10GB.

Disc space and I'd just like to be able to install from a plain windows disc, so I can install all the newest driver's upfront instead of having to install over acer's old driver's from the recoverey cd.

try using a bootcd like hirens bootcd u can fing this cd very, very helpful. its an iso image so if u find it u need to burn it using any applet like nero or any other similar its a 50mb iso. by the way u can use a copy of a normal xp boot cd to do the same job. but if u want to go a step further u can creat ur own xp install cd using nlite @ www.nliteos.com and a virtual machine programa like vmware to try ur new xp cd.
but i think that the hirens bootcd its much more useful if u want to just format ur hd.
