Mine's called Elijah because Elijah was a prophet of God who outran the chariot of King Ahab in the Bible (1 Kings 18:44-46) - Elijah was WAY FAST and so is my 9860!

My 8890 is called "antonov".
It is named after the Russian AN-225 Antonov heavy lifter aircraft.
(check out the number of wheels on this baby...)

This doesn't quite count, but back the dark ages (around 1986 ish), I put together and managed a network of Sun workstations. In what I took to be a fit of unusual creativity, I named a pair of adjacent machines Yggdrasil and Ragnarok.

Oh heck - it seemed like fun at the time!

Mine's "Jubei" as in Jubei Kibagami from Ninja Scroll. It just kicks ass!

There's a bunch of 'em:

Packard Bell Force Desktop (1994): Tiki
NEC Versa Laptop (1995): Tiki II
HP Pavillion 8490 Desktop (1999): Tiberium
eMachine eTower 733 Desktop (2001): Tiki III
Apple iBook 500MHz Laptop (2001): Washington
Compaq 5000 Custom Desktop (2002): Tiki IV
Alienware Area-51 Desktop (2003): Amon
Toshiba P15-S479 Laptop (2003): Robin
Sager 3790-S Laptop (2004): Motoko

That's all of them except for the old IBM we used to have but I never really saw much of it. And the last six are the only ones still in use. Washington is about to be replaced completely by Motoko. Tiki III is running climateprediction, Tiki IV is running climateprediction and my proxy/mail server, Robin is my primary laptop. Amon is my parent's desktop and my occasional gaming rig. Washington is my dad's travel/office/work laptop. Motoko is my dad's christmas present which will replace Washington.

Washington as in Apple, since it's the first Mac I've ever owned. I have no idea where Tiki came from but it stuck for a long time lol. Tiki IV will be the last in the Tiki line. I promise. Tiberium after the stuff in Tiberian Sun. Amon after Amon from Witch Hunter Robin. Robin after Robin Sena from (guess!) Witch Hunter Robin. Motoko after Major Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex.

Waaaaay too much info there lol but hey you asked!

Mine is simply "The Zoid"

Well, my external drive is labeled Yggdrasil, the 9860 I ordered will probably be called Asgard. I'd've called it Midgard, but this machine is unfit for the realm of mere men.

Maybe i was too much of a starcraft freak to notice any ancient mythology, but isnt Yggdrasil the name of a hero overlord?
Yggdrasil is the name of the tree that binds the three worlds together in Norse mythology. I note, though, that it is used over and over and over in games nowadays.

And why I bothered to name my computer? Windows XP asks for a name for the computer, so why not give it one. I usually put the same name in the network name as well.
