Crashing problems

Hi everyone,

Have had my 5690 for awhile and it works great. I have a few problems though.

Lately I've been taking screenshots with Hypersnap-DX 5.62.01 and I notice that when I go to save the image in a folder with other images, that the program seems to automatically close.. while I'm still in the Save Window. I've had a similar problem in the past not long ago where I'd open up a folder where I store a bunch of Sony Cybershot images. I noticed that as the thumbnails were loading that that folder window just closed, sometimes with some sort of error report. I cannot ever seem to save my images when taking screenshots. Any ideas on what this may be and what I could do?

Another thing is is that I get so many annoying popup windows lately. Adware or Spyware? Anyway it seems that sometimes I find porn websites automatically put into my Favorites folder.. I cannot seem to uninstall "Home Search Assistant" from Add or Remove programs which I do not recall ever being a default in there... and when I set my Start Page in Internet Options to like google.. it always ends up at some blank web page (home search assistant) with a window in the middle saying its scanning my PC if its infected with spyware. Anyone know what I could do to remedy this problem, and if it requires like Spyware removal programs.. what are some free ones as well?

Thanks and any help would be appreciated.

Definitely sounds like spyware or adware. Use the program Adaware to scan your computer and to clean all of it out.

If I use the program Adaware will it delete any necessary system files? Last time I ran an Adware/Spyware scanner, it ended up deleting some important files that limited my systems functions and I couldn't connect to the internet. Now.. how to get rid of adware without ruining your system... it almost seems like this adware or spyware attaches itself to important system files, so if you delete them you are only hurting yourself.

ZP---no. niether Adaware nor spybot search and destroy will remove any important windows files (nor will most spyware programs, though I cannot say that with absolute certainty for ALL programs, but I can say that about the above.

I am also willing to bet that whatever you used did not delete an important windows file -- what it likely did is remove a piece of spyware that had dug itself into your IP stack and removing the spyware caused your issue. When that happens, you need to repair the IP stack (sometimes easy, sometimes not).

So,the spyware detector did what it was supposed to--it just couldn't repair the problem caused by the spyware. Yes, there are some very, nasty pieces of spyware out there, but even they can be removed with proper knowledge.
