Burning DVD's with my Sager 3790

I am trying to burn DVD's I have downloaded many different programs and after the image is created to burn the movie, it asks for me to enter blank media. I enter the blank DVD+R disc, but then it just automatically spits it back out.

Any advice or solutions to this problem would be greatly appreciated!

More info would help. Which DVD recorder are you using? Which software? And finally which Media are you using? All of these are pertinent to any answer.

more info

Well, I have tried NERO burning software, Alcohol 120%, and now I have 1Click DVD copy.

All 3 programs do the same thing, say that the image is finished being created, and to enter a blank media disc. I place the blank DVD+R into it and it thinks for awhile and then spits it out.

Not sure what other information you need, this seems like a hardware issue? I noticed it's saying I have 2 drives in my computer. Says D: drive (CD DRIVE) and also a E: Drive (DVD DRIVE) but when I place anything, CD, DVD whatever into the CD/DVD-ROM it only reads from the D: drive, so the E: Drive seems somewhat useless. Does anyone have a 3790, with the 4x DVD+-R/RW / CD-RW drive?

I have ordered a 3790 with a DVD burner (I think mine's gonna be 8x :P). I will let you know if I am able to burn DVDs from my home camcorder tapes (which is my goal) and if successful how I do it (with what software and with what media). In the mean time I will be interested to see what people post in this thread as it may save me repeating some of the same headaches.

Can you provide the actual information on the drive? Also that brand name of the media (blank DVD+R) that you are using. Having a D: and E: ODD does not really appear to be normal. Might really be a mixed up driver type of situation. I'm not sure what you mean by "it's saying" - is that Nero or some other software? Try a DVD-R and see what happens - just a thought. Also, if the media is placed in the driver "upside down"; the results sould be as you describe. Make sure that the "purple colored side" is down and that the shiny or other side is up.

It's normal on a combo drive to have it show up as two drives in Explorer. On the computer I'm using now (burns and reads fine) I have D:, a DVD/CD-RW drive, and E: a DVD drive, but they are the same drive.

Just thought I'd throw that in so you don't go off in the wrong direction.

you sure you even have a dvd burner? Seems like the drive would be recognized as a "dvd-r/rw" or "dvdrw" , not "dvd/cd-rw" .

If you're asking me, I don't have a DVD burner in the computer I was writing that post from. It's a DVD reader-CD-RW.

Pedro - You state the obvious which is often overlooked. We need to know the exact model of the ODD that Chris is using. The dual drives is not shown on my laptop - I do have the dual CD/DVD writer and that might be the reason.

Now if Chris does not have a DVD writer, I can fully understand whay he can't burn a DVD.

Chris - What ODD what you got??

I gues I have asked Chris what type of drive he has three times now. Maybe he will tell us. If you need someone to walk you through identifying the drive, I would be more than happy to do it.

Here goes:

Start --> Control Panel --> System --> Hardware --> Device Manager --> DVD/CD-ROM drives. At this point it should show TOSHIBA ODD-DVD SD-R6372 if you have the 4x +- DVD recorder. There are other designations; however, you will have to let us know so that we can determine what type of drive and it's capabilities are.
