I just ordered an AXIM X50V with 2GB CF card, rhinoskin case and dell GPS module. Anyone else have one?

God bless the 25% off coupon!

I've had an Axim X30 High since yesterday

It's working great for me so far.

I use an Ipaq 4150. Works fine for me, although I had a Dell Axim X3i before this Ipaq, and it came with a few more built in features and stuff, so I've always liked Dell's pda's. Thing is, they're bigger though, and I like mobility.

One thing that is awesome about the x50 is that lock button on the side...that's awesome. Makes it perfectly functional as an mp3 player.

2 card slots kick ass too. Sucks I don't have an extra $500 laying around, that's exactly what it would go to.

Lucky :-P

Yup - I ordered mine the day they came out and have had it for several weeks now. I absolutely love it. Just this evening, as I was sitting in a parking lot waiting to go to a meeting (I was 30 minutes early) I was easily able to latch onto someone's unsecured network and check my email, surf a little etc. I'm actually able to do that quite often with the thing! And the screen on this baby is absolutely stunning!

I want to like PDAs, but I just can't seem to attach myself to one. They're too big to fit in my pocket and too small to have a useful interface. So, I just carry a 700m in my backpack. I use it with WiFi when available. I hook it up to my GPRS cell phone when there's no WiFi. And it has a real keyboard, a real display, and a real CPU to run real apps. So, tell me why I would want a X50v?

I have my good, old Axim X5. Every day I feel how odd it is to have a device that doesn't connect wirelessly to anything. It's an odd feeling. I really should get a wifi cf card for it, they even have an 11g one now.

You can also try www.PocketPCThoughts.com

Oh and when you do get it, mind updating me or us, on how it handles the SNES emu, morphgear?

I love my iPAQ 4350. With WiFi and Bluetooth and thumboard, it is great for MSN and email. I use it for email MSN around the house and out and about on GPRS through my Sony Ericsson T610 via Bluetooth. Having AU$200 credit for just GPRS (have another SIM for phone and SMS) makes it soooooo nice!

Good choice about the CF. Did you get a solid state (typically a Type I card) or a microdrive type (Type II card. the thick ones)? I bought a microdrive once and it was DOA. Bought a 1Gb SD for less. Lucky, as my new 4350 only has a SDIO slot!

I have a Inspiron 1000 with a Inspiron 8600 to be delivered on Tuesday. The X50 fits in shirt pocket perfectly, although I use a Sena case with a belt clip. I am a Corporate Technical Trainer for a forklift company, and have the phone numbers of over 130 techs and about 30 factory reps. I use the Abode PFD reader and download sections of of repair manuals with settings, and wiring diagrams. Use it for quick emails, has WiFi and Bluetooth. I can even watch movies if I like, Also looking at starting to use it for Power Point. And when I'm driving from branch to branch I have a car mount, Bluetooth GPS with Delmore Street Atlas, and I listen to audio books. I can put about 30 hours of books on a 128 meg SD card. I also have 4 versions of the Bible on a 16 meg card. Also the X50 has real VGA, and a accelerated 3D video chip for games, and believe me there is a ton of games available. I travel, and believe me, it is a lot easier to get an X50 out on a plane than it is a laptop. Most of the time, flights have gotten short enough since they have started using hubs, that it is not worth the time to dig the laptop out and set it up in flight...

games games how are the games?!?!?!? I have a Tosh e740 that I should put up on eBay. It was rather finicky, and the touchpad thing would only do 8 directions (not analog)

I tell you ONE reason why you might want to reconsider. The x50v is a kickass PDA compared to the bests of the best on the market right now. Check this out: The x50v has its OWN independent graphic chip that uses its own memory!!!! My 700m doesn't even an independent graphic : LOL: The graphic chip is way ahead of its time that there arent many programs on the market that take advantage of it.

Heres are a few more reasons:

-Great VGA screen
-built in WiFi and Bluetooth and Infared port
-takes SD and CF cards
-Its relative cheap compared to the other PDA on the market with the right coupon and deal from Dell of course.
-there are sooo many things you can do with this lil' multi-talented gadget. It's an MP3 player that sounds BETTER than the Ipod (with the right software). It's a multi-media machine where you can convert your DVD's movies and save it onto your memory card and watch it on the road (Beta Player with 2700g plug-in free softwares required) You can view pics, make free calls to other computers with an internet connection. Chat with AIM/MSN/ICQ/Yahoo buddies. Use it along with a GPS receiver. Suft the net. Check emails. Play 3d games. Sync with your computers and exchange data. Of course it makes a wonderful organizer too. The list just goes on and on. Some ppl on Aximsite thinks that it could replace their laptops or desktops in many ways with this device and i wouldnt disagree! Head over to aximsite.com and see whats all the buzz is about. Those guys over there are axim freaks !lol!! Its a very helpful site and i highly recommend it for researching about PDAs! Cheers!

Too big? Maybe you need to get small ones. I've had a 1910 for about 2 years now, and it's one of the few items that are on me at ALL times. And i've had it in my pockets all these years without a case or screen protector... i just try not to put it into the same pocket as my keys.

Have you tried Repligo? I find it's MUCH MUCH MUCH faster than Adobe reader.

I think I will be getting an X50 Advanced because what I want is battery life and X50v lacks it.
