Any idea if these two (widescreen/normal), will be making it to the states?

I want one!

No Gigabit LAN, no ExpressCard slot, no DVI. Interesting, though. Would be nice to see a 17-inch version...

well, the 1st one looks quite like the M621-DC by arima, which never made it to the US.
except that its AMD not intel.
I'm not quite sure u could put the cooling architecture for the PCI-E into the same chassis.
but theres always hope

Not to nitpick, but how likely is one to need those three things?...And the 15 is fine, I still like my portables to be...well, portable...

Anyone with LCD-monitors, front projectors, LCD/Plasma TV etc is likely to need DVI output. As for Gigabit LAN and ExpressCard, well that's a matter of having a "future proof" system. I believe especially ExpressCard will come in handy as you get virtually unlimited add-on options through that interface due to the increased bandwidth...

Well that's interesting... That's a new model...

*wonders if emachines or gateway will pick it up anytime soon*

I been told Gigabit lan brings nothing to notebooks. There is no harddrive that can sustain a data transfer-rate like that. Even the PCI buss can't either. And in a notebook like this I would use wireless networking anyway.

ExpressCard slot, not an issue to me. What do you wan't to put in it? A x800(MR9800), don't think the powerbrick will handle it and the cooling will not be enough either. And in two years, I'm probably buying a new system anyway. Even lower voltage, maybe with solid state harddrives, wirelss USB etc etc. PCI-Express slots seams alittle overrated to me.

WUXGA/UXGA is good enough for me anyway.

Question is where/when/how can I get it. And how about a bigger battery?

4.5 hours battery life

And this is with a 6 cell battery?

I wonder why there is so little information yet about these systems.

Never!

It's using a current generation AMD mobile processor. And the X600 with 64mb VRAM is about the same performance as a MR9700 with 64MB VRAM. So why would you expect any performance increases with this system? This is a Centrino killer if and only if you consider current mobile Athlon 64 laptops as Centrino-killers.

I'm guessing that the correct model name of the widescreen version is Arima M622-DK8X while the Arima M622-UK8X is the name of the fullscreen version.
Both M622s are 4:3 screen versions. Arima's naming convention: U denotes integrated graphics, D denotes discrete graphics (X600 in this case.)

The W622s are widescreen.

Interestingly enough, the W622 claims to have 3 hours of battery life while the M622 have 4.5 hours. Must be the screen!

There's also a M622-DCX/UCX. Identical to the M622-Dk8X/UK8X except the use of Intel chipset and Dothan processors.

The W622 has a 6 cell battery. M622 has... what?

Nice piece of lappy there... Looks like a gaming thin and light to me
