Add about a week to two weeks to the shipping process.
Click on them for a high res pic of each.

You guys asked so here they are. 5660 only (so far).

cool! When is it going to be available for the 8886?
What about those of us who already have their 5660? Is there an upgrade kit/option for this? Please?

Not sure when the 8886 will be included with the option but it's being worked on.
I'll see if we can do anything for customers that want to have it done that already purchased.

What kind of paint?

Looks great! I love the names for those colors. No more Alienware color "envy", heh-heh. It looks like PCTorque got the same company as Alienware to do the painting.

What kind of paint will be used for those colors? Will long term rubbing and ordinary use eventually cause the paint to rub off or chip?

Ooh...shiny.

No effect on normal laptops yeah? That's what I kept talking against in the poll.

Alienware charges less for the paint job, but the overall price of the laptop is much more, so this is definitely worth your money if you got it.

If you want I could make a little javascript thing for you like Alienware has for showing off the colors...

PCTORQUE > Does this mean we can dispense with the Sager logo? I didn't notice it on the close up shots?

You mean the Sager logo in the palm rest that is in other pictures? I've actually never seen one that has it other than those pictures.

denkc,

I made sure we kept the standard color for those that would rather save the $.
Thanks for the offer on the java display. I'm trying to think of the best layout for it but still simple and maybe you have some good ideas you can throw at me. People comment all the time that they're happy with how simple, clean, and functional the site is. I've been suprised not to hear many say it needs more graphics.

JavaSCRIPT, actually. It wouldn't be too hard to do...I could do it like alienware does, with a popup window. What Alienware doesn't do, however, is preload the images. I could do that too... but I would have to make the images smaller. Give me a few minutes, I'll get a sample up.

We wrote a script to pop it up when you click the question mark after selecting a color and it has HTML in it with thumbnailed images.
Okay. Well sorry it took so long, I tried to do it with an option bar but then decided it might be easier with just links.

Try www.geocities.com/denkc2/pctorque/test.html

I didn't preload and it looks like there's an error, but that's just a test.
Oh yeah, and there's a geocities ad. I'll get rid of it, but if you'll use the script, just remember to take the bottom part out.

Nice job! They really do look sharp.

Yeah, I know .. $200+ can buy some nice peripherals and other PC related items. But heck, you look at the laptop every time you use it and over the life of the machine, it really doesn't seem like it's that big of an expense.

Definitely something I will get when/if I buy a Sager from you all.

Regardless -- as someone else said, it's gonna be a little thorn in the side of those folks at Alienware. About the only thing they have to distinguish themselves in the laptop world is their multicolored laptop cases. That advantage has been pretty much thrown out the window now.

I saw no advantage in the first place :-) It was PCTorque all the way, lol. I like them! Glad to see how it was all done... No effect on those who want no color change, and the price is below expected :-)
I wonder how many people will buy it though. Other than the people on these forums, no one really knows about this and may still have to resort to alienware. To advertise would cost money, so I think only by word of mouth will PCTorque's custom painting spread. Then there will be people who don't know that the 5660 and 51-m are the same model, and may still choose alienware, AND then the fact that alienware charges 61 bucks extra for a paint job. Because they charge more overall, I suppose that's why they charge so "little" but all of these might hinder PCTorque's new dominance.

2 questions

First, what about those who already have their lappys, ( i get mine monday i believe) and 2, WHY would you want to get rid of the sager logo??? the Sager logo let fools recognize....hehe
post #19 of 46
I would really appreciate more pictures from other angles and with the laptop closed. Having a hard time judging exactly what they will look like. And a standard one for comparison would be cool. I'm looking forward to the day when an 8886 can be custom painted, I'm hoping to buy the first one.

I think that the choice of color is a very good option But (there's allays a "but") 10% of the price for the color is FOR ME too expensive.
The price could eventually be less if there is a lot of ask. (is it realy english what i said ?!!)

denkc it's a good idea and good job
