Here are my requirements
Non integrated video card-not heavy gamer but want to play games
Can be bought at store that ships APO/FPO-most important
Battery life of at least 3.5 hours
HD 40gb or larger-preferably larger-because of amount of music and downloading
WIFI b+g
under or around 1850 with shipping which is between 40 and 70 dollars to AP

What i have considered so far....

#1Twinhead N15rb-really like the ruggedized features and 3yr warranty but price is a little high

#2Acer 3201-concerned about reliability and build quality based on my knowledge from about 2 years ago with PC sales at bestbuy

#3Toshiba Tecra m2-the acer 3201 is lower and has better vid card also not sure if laptop on newegg comes with the 1yr or the 3yr toshiba warranty

#4 IBM T42-why so much money for so little power radeon 7500??? 256mb ram and still 1700+

#5Sony S17-Screen is small and only 32mb video card

i have pretty much price compared every ODM and other company and i just cant decide i really like the twinhead because im in the military and could be deployed but the price makes me hesistant, so any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. My main uses will be Music(will probably start doing some light DJ use), Some gaming, Lots of downloading and internet, communication with family back home(webcam recommendations would help small and light with good quality?), Word and Powerpoint, and some photoshop. I will also take votes on which laptop i should buy out of the 5 choices above

This is my first post and have to say i am loving the forum its been alot of help in my search.

Check out the sager 3790 and the cl56.

Also IBMs are really pricey, most say it's due to their high quality builds.

I second the CL56 at DL. Sounds right up your alley.

My vote goes for the Twinhead. Not speaking from personal experience, but reading what others have to say and judging by the overall specs, build quality, and support period, I'm betting it will give you the best bang for your buck.

IBM obviously has the best build-quality in this bunch, but you'll find it lacking in the hardware department. The components aren't on the bleeding edge (or even the cutting edge ), but what you'll pay for is the quality and support.

I can, however, speak from personal experience (tried it out in stores and such) for Acer, Toshiba and Sony. The build-quality of Toshibas and Acers is about equivilent that of a little-kiddie barbie laptop, and their LCD panels are pretty wobbly. Sonys are a bit better than the latter for build quality, but I can't say I've ever owned one (nor would I want to for reasons of support -- or lack thereof -- and overall options).

I've also had the chance to try out a Eurocom Milano M375E (A.K.A. Sager 3790), which seemed surprisingly good for build quality (including keyboard, LCD panel, and overall build), but - yikes! That price: $2900 CAD (approx $2350 USD)

It's all a matter of finding the right balance between quality, specs, and support for the price you're willing to pay.

I have looked at the CL56 and the Sager and have couple of questions.

Sager- wow thats a good looking laptop
1. weight with the bigger 12 cell battery?
2. The fact i can only get a 1 yr warranty on it sucks since im overseas that extended warranty is not an option
3. which screen would you guys recomend i dont know that i need the higher resolutions so i was thinking the wxga would be fine is there any reason why i would need an wsxga+?

CL56
1. build quality i dont know why but everytime i see the CL56 it always looks so cheaply made. and i have read quite a few people say that chembooks variation sucks. anyone with first hand knowledge let me know?

So i am now torn between the Sager 3790 and the twinhead i would like my laptop to be under 7lbs if possible as well i know i forgot to mention that. which laptop has the better screen as far as viewing angles between the two if anyone has seen both side to side?

I don't have a whole lot to compare to, but my CL56 (Chembook version) seems to be very solid. I occasionally hit corners of it on the wall while adjusting it on my lap and have yet to see any signs of problems. The keyboard is solid along with the rest of the chassis. I often move the laptop around with only one hand which probably isn't the best idea, but the chassis doesn't torque or bend at all, which is a good sign.

If you haven't already priced it, a CL56 equally equipped to the Twinhead will run on the order of $1600 or so.

Nice looking lappy how is the build quality and durability on it. the shipping to overseas can be pretty harsh on electronics. like the multimedia features on this one thanks for the recommendation. also do you use the dual battery mode or the single whats the batt life like with the single for you?
