8790 Temperatures

So I've had my 8790 for about 8 months now, and I've always assumed that my temperatures have been normal, but recently I read a post with a concerned writer complaining his temperature "actually went ABOVE 60C" when gaming...My computer will idle anywhere from 40-50C when doing regular work and during gaming will usually rise to 60-63, and can get as hot as 65 (66C tops)...I also made the mistake of falling asleep with the computer on and the screen closed, and when I woke up, I found the computer idle at 70C. ..I sort of panicked, turned on the turbo fan and blew as hard as I could on it until I passed out. I would like to know if this is normal, or if my computer is unusually hot... anyone?

oh thats right, I run on an EE so that may be why we have higher heat dissipation

i posted about heat/lag problems a couple of weeks ago. my problem was that i had dust (lint) clogged between my heat sink and vents/fans. i ran compressed air in thru my fans and this did not dis-lodge the dust. i had to remove the cover over the heatsink and spray the compressed air to get it out. it's not a big hassle and made all the difference in the world. i never measured my temps while game play but i noticed my palms sweating and my pc lag during game play. hope this helps.

oumercury,
Could you describe for us exactly where you mean by, "between my heat sink and vents/fans", please? I've blown mine out but never opened it up. Are you talking about something where you need to open the machine?

Pix or a sketch would help, if description can't cover it. I'd like to keep my 8790 clean if I can.

there are two panels, unscrew the screws and blow out the insides. be careful around the heatsink, it gets hot.

yea so i can't figure out how to insert a pic. haha, look in the review and benchmark section. under the 8790, it shows the unit taken apart. (http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=18065) about half way down he has the unit upside down with the two panels taken off. it shows the hard drives and heatsink. in the paragraph below it he talks about it's cooling system. the heatsink is the orange rectangle on the lower right side of the pic. hope this helps.
