Hi
Sad day
Won a XPS laptop from ebay,ON Nov, Call dell for Support to day,They tell
Me the laptop was report missing or stolen,Now what.lesson learn. :

DOH! thats not good.

You could always contact the police and give them the info on the person who sold it to you. Get a lawyer and try to get your money back. (and the laptop would likely go back to the original owner)

Either that or learn how to fix it yourself...

That's why you need to check the rating on the seller *AND* what they've sold before. Often times people will get good ratings selling $2-$10 items, and then go for the 'gold' with something like this.

I did,his rating was good I even call dell and check the service tag on it
it all so check out.

Service Tag

You called Dell and checked the service tag after or before you bought this? In that case I don't understand - are they saying it was stolen and just hadn't made it into their "system" as such at the time you checked it or something else?

How did you pay for it? You may try to get your money back via PayPal.

So, what's going to happen now? Police just will come to you and get the notebook away and will not go after the seller?
if u have the auction number/ seller name i'd get ebay involved and see if u can get a refund because in the product description it didn't say "stolen". Take it ez, u can do something.
i wonder if the seller reported to dell saying the laptop was stolen after he sold to the buyer?

also, please post the ebay seller id here too.

Its pretty sad what some people will do for some extra coin, I had a replacement XPS sent to me from Dell, I was told I would receive return tags in the mail 4 -5 days after I got it. That was over a month ago, a couple of weeks ago I emailed Dell asking if this extra XPS was a gift that I get for free or what ? Next day I received return tags via email. Just think of the money I could have made if kept it... but of course it would have come back and bit me in the ass if I sold it. Sorry to hear aboot your loss...

koy, how much $$$ did you lose on this transaction?
I sincerely hope you paid with a creditcard, if you did you need to file a fraud chargeback through your CC company.

What is the sellers ID?

Name and shame, I say.

if I bought a stolen laptop and I didnt know it was stolen.. I would NEVER give it back.. epsecially if I wouldnt get my money back!!!

I always take care of my stuff.. keep a good eye on it..etc.. someone has to be stupid to leave a laptop sitting out for someone to just steal so ez.. (like on the seat in your car.. someone could just break the window and snag it real ez) people just dont take care of their stuff..and THEY themselves are dumb for it..

and if I bought that laptop..and have to give it back.. Why the hell should I have to pay for that dumb persons mistake of letting his\her laptop get stolen?

if I were on the phone with dell and they told me it was stolen.. (CLICK) I would of hung up that second lol..

but I really hope you get your money back.. maybe their is some type of theft insurance..

I'm afraid it wouldn't be your call to give or not it back. What you gonna do when they come for you? By "them" I mean "people in uniform". People who stupidly let others to steal their things... well stupidity is not a crime. On the other hand opposing to people in uniform is also stupid thing - but it is crime all right
