Still searching or the laptop :_ I was wondering if this particular model was any good. People tell me a lot about 64 bit and iw as wondering since this laptop isnt a 64 bit laptop will this laptop be any good for the future? The laptop has everything i want except its not 64 bit. I need your input guys what you have to say about this? How long can this laptop last me in a long run in terms of technology wise?

Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!

ill have that notebook in about a week so stay tuned,

its hard to compare amd 64 bit processors to pentium M because they're designed to do different things. while the 64 bit is definitly more powerful the manufacturers specs of 4 hours battery life would drop down to like 40 min with the amd chip, not to mention that the computer would become the devils own easy bake oven

I think Jonas was thinking of P4 laptops, they are very hot and have very low battery life. AMD 64 laptops tend to be between the P4 and a PM laptop, they usually get around 3 hours of battery life whereas a P4 may get around 90 mins and a PM 4-5 hours.

not true either. AMD64 laptops come in 3 flavors

DTR M and LV
LV (when released) should be touching 6 hours
M is roughly just around 3 hours..little more, little less
DTR (such as what i have) gets 2 hours.

battery life also depends on other components like the harddrive (7200 eats just a bit more battery than a 4200 but just less than a 5400rpm in the longrun..or is it the other way around?) anyway. ram plays a role, more (and faster) ram means more juice eaten every minute BUT you get your stuff done faster so in the long run it may actually be economical. Then there is the video card, and no questions asked, cards like ATI 9700 w/ 128mb vram eat MORE juice than Intel Extreme 2. and of course there is the the screen. a 15.4" wxga will eat MORE battery than a 12" xga.

just something to keep in mind. regardless the CPU (and it's cooling) is the primary sucker of battery life.
