CD-Writer Question

I need a program that emulates a CD-Writer. I want to start the program and have it look like a writer to other programs, so that when X program wants to write to a CD it will instead write to a folder created on the HD by this program. This will be in a WIN seting. Any ideas?

I'm not quite sure I understand what you're asking for but I'll take a guess here. Are you wanting to be able to write data to a hard drive and be able to access it as a CD Drive?

In this situation, what you would do is use your burning software to, instead of burning to a CD, write the data to disc as an .ISO image. There are then programs that can be used to mount it as a drive so you can access the data.

Is this what you are wanting to do?

Thank you for the response but that is not exactly what I am looking for.

I have some software that will only write to a CD-writer, it must "see" the hardware(cd-writer). What I am looking for is a piece of software that will make itself appear to the OS and any other program running as a piece of hardware(CD-writer), but will then transfer any files writen to it to a local hard drive.

Thanks for the help here. I will looking in the Alco suggestion and if it does not fit I will try some searches of Virtual Drive creation.

Virtual CD is a very nice option. They also offer an enterprise solution so you can share virtual CD's across the network. Very nice software. I've used an older version, but I haven't tried the latest.
