Vicious PC Gaming - Page 3

Yeah, the uniwill 258 series isn't too bad. It is highly rated for the price vs feature ratio. It comes with standard ATI 9700 128MB video, where most laptop only has 64MB video on their ATI 9700.

The weight is a bit heavier than the 259 series (aka: Shogun Vicious PC). Approx 1lb heavier. Otherwise, not a bad laptop. Pretty simple nice design.

There are plenty of threads on Uniwill laptops. Please stick to commentary on ViciousPC in this one.

How is the build quality on this? Is it solid and well built or is there a lot of flex on the keyboard and palmrest?

The ninja is a ViciousPC, if you wanted it to stick to the Uniwill 259ia3, er Shogun why didn't you call the thread Shogun? I wanted to know about the other notebook that ViciousPC sells since the thread is called "Vicious PC Gaming"

By the way thanks jack and Smilepak the screen Issue made me change my mind already

MWave Version

Whoa! I started the thread to learn about Vicious PC and its reputation. At one point, I was considering the Shogun, Ronin and wound up with the Ninja before cancelling it because they could not price match MWave's recent sale.

In the end, I went with MWave and saved $150 and maxed out my memory!

And in case you are interested, here is my plight:

I switched my order from Vicious PC to MWave with the following specs:

MWAVE N258KA (AMD Athlon 64 Mobile)
15.4" WXGA/ATI M11P 128MB/MODEM/LAN/3-in-1 CARD READER/3xUSB 2.0/1xIEEE 1394 (4-MONTH SUBSCRIPTION COUPON; ATHLON 64 MOBILE 3200; 1GB DDR (512MBX2); 40GB (5400RPM) HDD; DVD/CDRW COMBO; MS XP HOME)

Vicious PC called me and wanted to charge me $45 more for an upgrade from the A64 3000 processor because they were out of stock. That would have brought my total to $1413. I just didn't want to pay that much and felt a little miffed that Vicious didn't just give me the upgrade for free. You know, customer service?

MWave's higher-end AMD system (See above) cost me $1337. But it does not come with an internal WLAN card. Vicious said they were unable to price match. I told them I would stick with them, if they could at least double my ram. Well, obviously they couldn't do that, so I was forced to buy from MWave, which seems like a reputable company.

Ironically, I wanted to buy my Ninja, but wound up with the MWave version instead.

I think the customer service part is that they did call you and tell you that it would be more. I think they are a pretty good company, and going for the cheapest isn't always the best route.

I'm still waiting it out, but as I noted before Vicious is still high on my purchase list.

No way. If you went to buy a new car and were quoted a price and promised availabilty and thus made a payment and they didn't deliver the car, they are obligated by law in most states to provide a similar or better car at no cost.

The polite thing for a company to do is to upgrade the customer free of charge, so that the customer does not incur any unexpected costs or delays. May not be the way a lot of places do business, but it is the way that places that stay in business and build a loyal customer base do business.

I am NOT saying Vicious PC is a bad company. In fact, I was extremely disappointed that, at the end of the day, I had to purchase a laptop from a bigger company. I told them I would have gladly paid them the higher price they were going to charge me if they would at least double my ram (details in previous post). But like IlCacciatore said, they should have upgraded me for free. It was this extra cost that got me to start thinking about their prices. Thankfully, someone posted yesterday about MWave's incredible savings. I barely got the deal.

Why in the world would you like to buy your laptop from a company
that has chosen to use vicious in its name. Name of the company is vicious
,name of the laptop is shogun. Your instinct should tell you not
to buy from this company, unless you belong to cowboy captialism
and SUV driving herd :-).

Did they charge you for this laptop, then raise the price? If that is the case, I'm sorry I jumped to a conclusion. I agree, that is a BS move, and they should have compensated for the higher price.

It has just been my experience that many companies, even ones that I have given a good chunk of money too have not been very customer friendly.

Strangely enough, you do make a point.

And no, I drive a POS Civic and I'm as far from capitalism as possible.

Dude tell me you're kidding. A smiley, a lol something. If so stop reading, if not continue on.

I guess, based on your logic, you wouldn't buy from Alienware or Voodoo either. *shakes head*

What does capitalism have to do with it, would you rather be in a communist country.

Jaguar, Lion or tiger is a different matter. Dont put Jaguar in the same
category as a company choosing to call itself viciouspc. How about
buying from a company that chooses to call itself evilpc or may be satanicpc.
Do you get the drift ? According to your pure logic it should not matter, right?
Does it not make you wonder that inspite of trillion good names available out there a company still chose to call itself "evilpc" ?

No it doesnt matter, Mr. Falwell.

I am sure "vicious" has more to do with the urban slang sense, meaning "really good." Just like people say, man those rims are "wicked" or wow, those are some "bad" shoes.

So it's Vicious PC as in "hot, dope, tight, cool, bangin, sweet, off the chain" PC.
I think that stating hat they have a deeper agenda from calling themselves vicious is quite farfetched. Conspiracy theories must be your thing.

Plus, the adjective form of vicious is "having the nature of vice" which as my wife says I am adicted about these forums and researching about what laptop to get. As I expect most of us here are

Still far fetched about I believe more grounded than your option. And furthermore who are you kidding yourself, we are all capitalist here, how do you explain our thirst for technologie and competition between companies to get the better option or the better price. From participating in these forums its obvious that you are not indifferent of waht you get as you would in a comunist regime. So at least lets not be hypocrits.

Not trying to get intense but lets drop the conspiracy theories about the name of a company. Or do you really think that its the new startup company the devil founded to play violent games and get us all to go to hell come on you've got to be kidding with this.

just my two cents

Well you do know about the Lamborghini Diablo? Diablo means devil in Spanish. So are you going to tell me that if someone gave you a Lambo Diablo you wouldn't take it?

So I take you would also would have an issue with sports teams that call themselves demons? At the school I went to we were the Demons. And in the local town I live in now almost 500 miles from my home town, the local team is also the Demons.
Sorry to for the laced sarcasm.

I think Vicious is a good company, and I haven't heard of any reported issues with their customer service.

I'm looking forward to more updates from people that have ordered any of the Vicious laptop offerings.

What about

the Duke Blue Devils

the Demon Deacons - not sure which way to go on that one

Dirt Devil - can't clean your carpet with that one

Hell, Michigan - don't want to go near there

I even think the government named a highway in SE Utah "666"

It is kind of unfortunate that someone is going to visit this thread to decide whether to purchase from vicious and they are giong to leave wearing tin foil underwearing and crossing themselves. Will someone please lock this thread. Elvis has left the building.
