Bottom line is this, no matter what your underwear is made of or which religion you profess, Vicious seems to have had some negative rep a while back but lately it looks good. So tell 'em "Hi from NBF" when you buy from them.

I wrote this for another thread, thought I paste it here too seeing how its relavent to the topic. I am the guy that found vicious pc way back in November.

I finally got my shogun today. I just opened it and found that vicious had put windows xp home instead of pro in it and still charged me the extra 89 dollars. Well now I got to wait another week probably before I get my copy of xp pro. The notebook looks great although a little bigger than I had expected. Booting takes only a few seconds and everything seems to be running fine processor wise. I would like to run some games on it but I will have to reformat my hardrive latter anyways and I really don't have the time to sit through hour long installations. Now as I sit here and type, I realize some problems. The computer gets wicked hot within minutes on the right side, but you will only really feel it if you place the notebook right on your lap. The right palm rest also gets a little warm, but nothing too bad. The majoy thing that is pissing me off is the mouse pad. There is a stupid feature that lets you scroll up and down and its so close to my right hand that I can't type without touching it. Every second I am going up and down the screen. I also hit the pad sometimes and I start writing or deleting all over the place. I tried to turn it off, but I can't find an option like that. Guess I will have to get used to it. I also notice a really annoying noise that comes on and off every twenty seconds. It is quite bothersome, but with head phones on you won't notice it. I can't get my dvd burner to work either, but I haven't had much experience with a dvd burner. Also for some reason I can't watch Napoleon Dynamite in widescreen format only regular. I ran 3dmark and I scored 2465. I don't know how good that is because I couldn't check the score on 3dmark's website. At the moment I am quite close to returning the notebook if everything doesn't work pertty much perfectly once I get xp pro. Damn this mouse is real annoying - does anyone else have this problem? Well I guess I will be writing more once I get xp pro.

Doesn't sound like you were impressed...

Yeah but his review, besides the part about the Windows version, is solely about the system (which is relatively the same from reseller to reseller) and not about the reseller itself, which is what is in question here for the most part.

My latest ordeal...

I cancelled my order two days ago from Vicious PC and the refund of $1400 and some bucks has yet to show up back in my bank. The bank says it takes at least 24 hours for a refund to post.

I just spoke to Vicious and they assure me that the refund went through yesterday afternoon....a whole day later than when I cancelled. Personally, this urks me big time, as they should have refunded the account the same day.

I'll let you know if and when I get the money back in my bank account.

Just thought you guys would be interested to know.

It shouldn't irk you. I work for a company that primarily sells products over the internet and phone by credit/debit card. When we get a request for a refund it can take up to 5 to 10 days for the whole process. It takes a day or two to be entered and submitted (depending on our finance department), then it has to be submitted to the bank and then it is out of our hands. We have customers call up all of the time and bitch about refunds that take "too long."

Sometimes they are real sob stories - "I didn't realize I was so low on funds and so I bought 200 dollars worth of stuff on my debit card, but now I don't have enough money to pay my rent/feed my children/etc." Well sorry, we'll do it as fast as possible, but sometimes people just need to exercise more financial responsibility and restraint when it comes to their purchases. Not that this situation is exactly applicable to yours, I'm just trying to point out that even when a refund (really a chargeback) is requested, it may take up to 10 days and even in dire cases there is not much anyone can do about it.

You may have been right! Furthermore, the refund finally posted to my account this morning. I would recommend Vicious PC if and only if their bigger competitors aren't having sales. The bottom line for me is the quality of the laptop and the price.

All in all, I still wish Vicious PC would have treated me better as a customer, as they should have simply upgraded me to a different processor rather than charge me more money. They seem to be a very promising company.

As for MWave, my laptop shipped yesterday from them. Now that's speed! I only hope there are no problems.

Well, considering that has nothing to do with ViciousPC or a Uniwill 259IA3 about which this started, please post that message in another thread. Otherwise, these forums are worthless. Feel free to start an MWave thread. Better yet, do a search and see if there already is one.

Ling you really need to chill out. A little off topic talk doesn't kill a thread, nor does it ruin a forum. You're acting mighty nOObish.

Sorry, should I have posted this in its own thread?

Good question. I am writer and reviewer and I just reviewed the Alienware 51-m 5500 and found that in games the 1600 x 1200 is just awesome. Normal, everyday use, I think the 1280 x 800 (wxga) is perfect. I create a ton of graphics with Corel and Quark and use things like Word and the 1600 x 1200 is just too small to use. So I say WXGA is perfect.

I got the 259 (EDIT: Shogun) from ViciousPC and yes they are slow but they are reliable. They are probably slow due to a bunch of orders over the holidays. What I was told was that they need to test every system before shipping and in addition they are out of stock on the DVD burner. Not sure if that is a lame excuse or sincere. My system came with FarCry installed and the CD (maybe they benchmark with FarCry or maybe the test guy was bored and wanted to play it).. can someone confirm if they got this too? I can understand that it would take them a while to get the system in order. I get this impression that they are a small locally operated computer shop, maybe a bit bigger than a typical mom and pop shop, specifically dealing with higher end computers instead of the typical cheaper ones. I’ve worked for a few mom and pop shops in my younger days. The biggest reason why it took so long for me to get mine was the time it took for the UPS to ship… almost a week from UPS tracking… granted packaging was pretty good (laptop was in 3 boxes)… so much for free shipping.

Overall happy with the order, though I was expecting a smaller laptop with better batter life.

That winbook look like the mitac 8050. I wonder whatever happened to Winbook anyhow. In the early years, they were a very strong notebook company. hmm
