They just did a review of the X850 for desktop in Maximum PC. They described it's performance as a meager 10% increase over the performance of the X800. The new card still follows the majority of the X800 architecture, so increases are minimal. Not worth the money, and it takes up 2 slots on the desktop motherboard! Obviously, no mention of the MR version, but if specs are similar, is it worth it?

I agree that the 850 is not worth it to upgrade. But I am sure it would be worth it if you are building a new computer.

Guys, I was wanderring about MRx850 for XPS/9100 - the one mentioned in the first post here. If the sales rep didn't confirm that the card even exists, I just might buy MR9800. But if there is something more real then just a hope, I can wait for now.

Oh, yeah, for sure! If you're starting from scratch, you better get one. ATI seems to be making a promise that EVERYONE will be able find one of these, given the shortages of their recent high-end cards, most notably the X800.

I am not so sure about ATIs promise however...haha thats what they siad last time about the platinum edition!!
