Longhorn Transformation Kit - Page 2

Okay Whackamac, I just went through and kept all the default settings... my windows theme is not black, and my start button is not just the icon itself either.
Longhorn is pretty looking, but no performance increase...yet
When new windows OS is released
maybe we will see?
this is not longhorn. this is just aero which i believe is the windows xp compatible look and feel.
alright, could I get some help please? another thing that I like about your look whack is that when you hit the windows start button at the top it doesn't have the user icon with your name, and the name is real small, please tell me how to make it look like this, along with having no "Start" just the windows icon & the night time theme!!! Also I could not figure out how to edit the Calender text... plz help! Thanks.

Okay try this....

run the setup program again.

click thru the messages... waiting for the system file cancellation (important!!!)

choose configure toolbar style.
click ok
choose Aero - the plain one
click the option for longhorn buttons set below that.
click ok

wait a minute and restart.

then upon restart, go back to the setup program again.
go thru the prompts again...
this time choose set my themes service settings.
click ok
choose enable
click ok

wait a min and restart. that should do it? let me know!

Either Safe Mode and System Restore or Reinstallation of windows unfortunately. Too many files were replaced for a manual recovery.

PEOPLE!!! READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THIS PRODUCT AND FOLLOW THEM EXACTLY... WAIT AT LEAST 1 MIN BETWEEN DIALOGS TO CANCEL ANY POPUPS... IT IS VERY TEMPERMENTAL AND WILL DESTROY YOUR SYSTEM IF NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY!!! YOU CAN NOT "GUNG HO" INSTALL THIS. MY RESULTS WERE DUE TO ME TAKING MY TIME AND READING EVERYTHING ESPECIALLY WHEN THE DIALOGS STATE THAT IF YOU DONT, YOUR SYSTEM IS SCREWED!!! IF YOU DONT FULLY UNDERSTAND WINDOWS (DEEPLY) THIS IS NOT FOR YOU.

YOU ALL HAVE BEEN WARNED! NOW HAVE FUN!!!!

P.S. I have to drive to oregon today to drop my kids off to their mom.... 5hr drive each way... yuk...

when i get home I will make an install guide for all of you... just wanna help! Installed properly, I am taking no performance hit and it looks breathtaking.... especially with my firefox skin...

Okay Whack, I've been trying everything and I still cannot get my theme to be night, nor can I get the icons to be Longhorn on both of my accounts, only the account that I ran the program on. Another thing, I'm using Powertoys for WinXP trying to get my start to be just my windows icon but I can't figure out which tool needs to be used to do it. I hope you can help me when you get back!

after trying everything, this is the closest to a "LongHorn transformation" that I can get
post #38 of 84
i had to turn off windows file protection in my registry. then everything worked fine.

Looks like you got the font and the icons to work great. Just have the scrollbars, tabs, and windows to get. Good work, though Nichex. I've been lurking this thread since Whack started it, and I'd have hosed my system by now. Least you're not looking at a reformat!

I know what you're thinkin' Whack! We're a bunch of mediocre bastards that we can't figure this out! We'll have to wait for your juiced up task list to get us to the home stretch!

For now, I might download the file and see if those icons are shells that can be converted to .ico's, 'cuz those are real nice!

Keep workin' on it Nichex!
