Marco post a more detailed explanation of what your doing and what point you get stuck at. I realize your trying to update your BIOS but I'm not sure how your booting (floppy or CD) or what flash utility your trying to use to accomplish the BIOS update.

I'll try and help once you've offered more detail

Ok, i've hit F2 when it's booted up, I've changed the boot preference to CD drive as opposed to Hard Drive. Now I restart and like expected it boots from the CD, thus I get the Clarion (sp?) DR -DOS screen, i've burnt the two ISO files onto disk via Nero.

Can you help me from here?

Marco, the readme file for the 1.04 bios says to type Phlash16 D47KR104.ROM at the command prompt. I can't remember off the top of my head how the 1.03 flash goes but thought that the .iso file burned to disc pretty much automated the flash process.

There is supposedly a windows flash tool at Eurocom's website but I've not used it and can't seem to get into their website at the moment to look for it. Their URL is www.eurocom.ca

Finally I won't have my laptop back from Pro-Star until monday and may not be able to give help which is much more detailed than what i've offered so far until then. Post whether or not you have any luck though - if not I'll let you know how to flash to 1.04 late monday night.

well, 1.03 came in a rar file and I unzipped the folder and I got two files, one was about 2 KB while the other was about 1MB. I burnt them with nero using 'burn bootable disk'

Am I doing it right so far?

If i remember the 1.03 iso automatically flashed the bios.

Eurocom site is down at the moment for some reason, I'll call and find out why. I'll put what i have up on my server and post back with a link where people can download it.

Both the 1.04 bios and the winphlash utility are available at www.ravenet.ca/files

Marco,

It doesn't look like I'm gonna be able to help. Pro-Star sent back the laptop with a new hard drive and the same problem I was having. I'm gonna have to RMA it again.

I think you might be confusing an ISO file with a RAR file... Don't open the file in winRAR, just burn it with nero's "burn image" function.

by default winRAR sets itself to open ISO files which can be confusing.

Don't know if that helps or not.

So burn the RAR file as "Burn Image" strait on to a CD, and no more?

I'm thinking it might be an ISO image, not a RAR file. So yes, in your burning program just open it as a CD image to burn it.

If you have RAR installed and it "unzips" files as the default program. Right click on the file and it will extract the ISO. The burn that ISO as an IMAGE to a CD-R/RW.

So I extract the ISO file from the rar file and then burn it onto a disk, via Nero as an Image...

btw in the rar file there are two other files inside it.
