Hey everyone.
So, long story short, my laptop fell with the combo drive tray out.
Ouch.
Everything is perfectly fine except that the combo drive no longer works. I called Acer about repairing this. $450. That is, I feel, far too much. I'm getting an external drive, but I'd still like to get this thing working properly. It's going to require a replacement, I'm afraid. So, two questions:
1. Anyone know if this is a standard laptop combo drive? If so, where should I get a replacement for it?
2. Anyone know how to get the Aspire 1660 series apart to replace it? Acer claims that it can only be done in-shop but... I just don't believe them.
