Connecting zr85 to Dell Laptop and use it as a webcam?

I have 3.4 mhz xps dell labtop
I have the firewire cable
and would like to know if anyone can get there camera to work as a webcam
if so how?
Also what programs are you guys using to use the web camcorder with latest msn messenger?
And if you guys have a good forum for digital cams that I can give these questions to because I think this falls more under the digital camera ot the labtop.

yo i have a 8600 and a optio s40 digital camera thatconnect through usb. i am also wondering if you can use it as a webcam and what program may be available. thx

The canon digital camcorders come with some software that allows you to do this. I forget what it was called (since I've only used it once on my older computer)...but it came with my ZR65, so I'm guessing that it also came with your zr85. Check the software bundle disk.

Tried the DV messenger 2

tried using Dv messenger 2 but it won't work with MSN plus have to use msn 4.7 ...unless I'm connecting wrong with dv messenger any clues on how to use dv messenger would help. Funny thing is when I used the camera with 4.7 msn it said upgrade dv messenger to 2.0 ( I only have 2.0) So I downloaded it from the site and going to reconnect it just incase it is the softwar.
