Fixing MBR on a Satellite A70-TS1

Hi people.
I have a tricky question here. I just had a virus (I think) and I managed to remove it from the system. Then I started to have a problem when Whindows Home ed. loaded. It would stop on the WELCOME screen for about 20-30 seconds or so and then boot as normal. So, what I did is to reinstall Windows Home ed. from Toshiba Recovery DVD (which can only be accessed to completely reinstall the system with all Toshiba components, in other words, I can't use the CD to reinstall ONLY audio drivers, for example, I have to reinstall the whole system). I did reinstall everything, but I still get this 20 seconds "pause" on the WELCOME screen. I thought, it might be the Master Boot Record be damaged by a virus or smth.
The problem is that I CANNOT access FIXMBR or FIXBOOT cause they are on the f!@#ing Toshiba Recovery DVD under a password. My version of OS is Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition. Can I use WinXP Professional CD to replace the MBR or it will completely f!@# the system ? Please, anyone who knows about that "freeze" on WELCOME screen or smth about the MBR, give me an advice or any help.
Thanks.

the pause at boot has nothing to do with the MBR
