Ok First off I ordered the computer on nov 12th came to a total of $4574.30 I recieved it today 12-30-2004.

These are My specs as follows

area 51-m 7700 Xeno Gray
17" with camera
P4 3.6ghz 1mb cache
2 gig ddr-2 memory 4x512mb was supposed to be 1024x2 go figure
nvidia geforce go 6800 256mb ram
2 60gb 7200 rpm hd raid 0 setup
24x dvd cd-rw drive
8x dvd+-rw drive
win xp profesional
usb floppy drive
3d mark 05 pro
3 year warranty
Ultrasone hfi 650 headphones
zalman surround headphones
pcmcia wireless card
Alienware mouse pad
Alienware respawn
Cool Alienware binder

Ok Now for the review,

I was real anxious to get this computer but like everyone else I had to wait. I purchased it nov 12th and paid all the money upfront, whole transaction went smooth, they gave me a ship date of dec 20th well it shipped dec 27th not bad.

Now when I got home there were two boxes waiting for me one a big heavy Alienware box and a small brown box, I first open the small brown box and find inside My ultrasone headphones, my zalman headphones, usb floppy drive, and a pcmcia wireless card.

The next Box of course being my Alienware box, I take the box and open it and what do I see but a big piece of padding, lifted that up then I saw a alienware t-shirt in black, then after that I find my respawn discs, after picking that up I see through the whole in the rest of the padding a another box, So Im thinking Great shipping. Pull the big box out and then I find a binder with my invoice and some cds and a mobile manual, I also found a large metal box, opened that up and found my mouse pad.

Ok so now down to the computer itself I open the box and there it is bag and dj buttons stareing me in the eye, So I pull out the bag, go through it and found the bag to be good solid quality, then inside I found 2 more system cds, power plant or adapter you choose its huge, dvi to vga adapter, computer manual.

Now to the computer I pull it out and this computer is big but it is solid, well built no flex at all, The screen is gorgeous no dead pixels and has a glossy surface to it, I have to say this is one fast laptop. I like the alienhead and mine stays lit blue color.

Its nice to have a full size keyboard and the laptop palm rests are big enough to rest comfortably on them.

Ok on to the bench marks I ran 3d mark 01se, 03, and 05, then ran aquamark, and got doom 3 scores.

Here are the scores with all stock out of the box settings

3Dmark:

01SE- 16786
03- 7244
05- 2781

Aquamark- 43,496
Gfx 5,643
cpu 9,478

Doom 3 60.1 fps

Sorry if this isnt too good of a review this is my first one. So If you have any questions or other benchmarks you would like let me know.

I will be posting pics soon.

No sorry Havent tested the battery yet, when I get home I will test the thing out.

Since everyone is waiting and not many people have one yet, I will answer all questions to the best of my ability.

I will be playing games on it tonight and will let you know how it goes

Is that just the normal messenger bag you picked up?

I'm debating whether or not I should wait for the XL backpack to come in, or just order the messenger bag. Is there any room left in it for books/etc. after you stick the laptop/battery/mouse and that kinda stuff in it?

That thing is big....

As in Big pimpin.

Sweet pics.

Orionark no thats not the messager bag, thats actually a bag that came with the laptop, free gift I guess, It seems to be made of sturdy nylon material, I would say no about putting books in it, its a nice case but doesnt fit much inside, you can put the ac adpater and the computer and probably a mouse but not much else, I want to get the alienware hard case but I do not know if it will fit or not.

Hey ALIEN-FUSION Yea I love that mouse, but if you do get it make sure you install the driver, I used it for awhile just pluged in and it seems like going 12 mph then with the driver in it goes 112 mph. this mouse is great. I have that and the nostromo speed pad, makes a great pair.

Nice Pics... Let me know how those Zalman surround headphones work.. I am debating on getting some. I was curious about the bag too... But that was answered. I ordered the XL Backpack with mine I hope they did not do a swap a roo like they did with me RAM and substitute it with the regualr Backpack. If so I will be fuming ugh I need the extra room. Anyway. I assume they dont give you the back pack and the bag.. I'm sure it's a free bag then when you get a backpack oor what ever it's considered an upgrade.

what are those things on the front of the computer(where it lights up)
also on the lid on the bottom part looks like it has 3 slits for something, what are they?

Hey DIZZO the zalmans work pretty good, but there are 3 conectors and one of the has alot of crackling coming through, lots of intereference, so you may need to get a external sound card. The Ultrasones were good untill they broke, Now the right side works and the left side doesnt. As far as the Bag goes, if you order the backpack you still get the bag, thats like a freebie that comes with the computer.

Hey blaze Im not sure what you mean by the lights in the front, but on the front of the computer where you see the silver buttons, it lights up there and thats for the dj controls, so you can listen to cds while the computers off, as far as on the cover those slits are leds for the battery, the power cable, and I believe for the wireless and the bluetooth if equiped.

Hey SKITZO the blue is cool, pluss red didnt go with the grey. As far as the headphones go, the zalmans sound good but there are 3 connecters and one of the 3 has interfernce some kind of crackling noise, The ultrasones were great till they broke, you can hear out of the right side and not the left.

hey Dj
thanks for the answer thats that I meant
congrats on the system
Cool thanks DJ, Yeah I was thinking about getting the external sound card but I wanted to find out how well the internal one worked. I may get it still and see if it solves the cracking sounds. If I do I will let you know how it works. Or if you do the same before I do let me know... Thanks again.

The 3dmark05 score seems pretty low, my Dell 9100 with 9800MR gets 3100ish on 3dmark05. Weird....
That's because your 9800 has about 150MHz clock speed over the 6800. If you over-clock the 6800 to the levels the guys up in the Sager forums are doing you can score about 3900.
