is there a way to switch of the LCD monitor on this notebook

i leave the notebook on through the night sometimes and i would want to switch the monitor off, to like have a button or a program to do so

currently i am using power management to switch it on when it idles to a predefined limit or using a blank windows screen saver

If you right click on your battery or plug icon in your task bar and select adjust properties then click on the advanced tab you can make your screen turn off when you close the lid.

This is unusual; normaly, when you close the lid, the screen swich off (or enter in suspend mode, for example; this can be configure in the power option in control panel).

Press with a finger the little button that is over the num block led...if dont turn off the screen, you have a problem with this

lcd saver is a nifty program
has anyone else here used it?

i works like a treat in switching off the screen
but then after awhile it will switch back to the black screen with the gate2.net logo in the centre

i cannot seem to get the lcd switched off for more then 10 mins

BTW, is there any adverse effects in having the LCD on?

Go to control panel.....then Power options........then select the monitor switch-off time next to "Turn off monitor"........i leave my 9100 on overnight as well, and i have my monitor set to switch off after 15mins.

I use a program called NirComLine - http://freehost14.websamba.com/nirso...ircomline.html .
It works as follows: you can either click on an icon on the desktop or press a short cut key and the lcd will turn off. The lcd will turn back on whenever there is any keyboard or mouse activity.

This program can help us:

Monitor Control

I use it, works fine, and you can use it for long time
