is this laptop

HP Compaq NC6000 Notebook
1.5 Pentium M Centrino Based
Built in Wifi
256 Megs Of Ram
14.5 inch viewable
5.8 lbs I think
ATI Radeon 32 MB Mobility 9600
40 Gig Hard Drive Probably 5400 RPMs maybe 4200 who knows
Comes with A/C Adapter And Two Batteries
Problem: he lost the modular dvd/cdrw thingie so I have to buy that separately on ebay or something
Bluetooth I think enable

Formatted with new windows xp pro and mcafee anti virus and some basic progs.

Laptop in mint condition no scratches, no breaks, no screen burns or scratches on the LCD. He takes really good care of his stuff, just gets into hock debt with credit card companies and reason for selling. Interest eating him alive.

Laptop Specs & Review

worth 600 dollars usd?

I have a friend who is local in a bind needs cash willing to sell me his mint HP Compaq NC6000 Notebook for 600 dollars

I wanted to get some opinions if its worth the 600 dollars

its only got the ati 32 mb dedicated video card.

My only plan is to have a portable lappy for using on web design work, simple html, no flash, definitely watching dvd movies on the go, and some light gaming like quake 1 or 2 old but goodie games.

Currently my ASUS P4 ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 128 w/ 60 gig 7200 RPMS 512 DDR RAM is ideal for everything else but its soooo not portable, heats up a lot, battery barely 1 hour if that. so I need the A/C adapter with me everywhere I go.

I want a laptop that needs no cables what so ever and can be very portable.

Any opinions!?

If your not buying it then I am.

Edit: You say it only had 32mb but the link from notebookreviews has it as 64 MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9600.

What's going on?

There are two models. If you had it custom built like I did, you have to wait a while, but you can get an SXGA+ screen and 64 mb video card. Otherwise you're stuck with 32mb and an XGA screen. That is an outrageously low price. I'd buy If I were you. That machine is easily worth $1000. Great computer, nice and light with plenty of power. Plus, for a few hundred you could upgrade the processor all the way to 2.0 GHz and the RAM, giving you a computer that could be worth $2000 for only about $900.

Ah, that makes sense then with the VRam. Thanks for clearing that up.

If you dont get it, maybe you could post it up here for sale.. like Vergara, I wouldnt mind buying it myself.

It is a nice laptop, buy it. Mine is a bit higher-end, but it is a very well-made laptop.

thanks for all the input

so for the money its good for the following uses?

web desiging, lite small flash stuff, wireless, web surfing, lite gaming example quake 1 or 2 maybe counterstrike 1.6, photoshop?

you're in the clear for all of those, P-shop might be a tad on the slowish end, but very much workable

Its a real deal. If you didn't report the reason I'd say it's too good to be true.

well I got two of them NC 6000 for 600 each, and I am buying a 3rd one this coming week. I am happy to say the two I received are in flawless condition. Some might say it could of come right off the truck itself that new. Anyhow I installed every app I need and I notice the difference between my p4 and this new centrino I am using to write this reply.

My next question should I keep this one I have or sell it at market price to buy a newer centrino with 128 VRAM or the 256 one i keep hearing about? any thoughts?

Okay, excuse me? Did you just say that you bought 2 of them at 600 each?

That settles it, those laptops must be "hot" IE: Stolen.

600 is just insanely cheap. I mean, these are NOT cheap laptops to buy. How'd someone get a hold of multiple ones for you and then sell for $600 and still make any profit for themself?

If they are indeed hot, you should be ashamed of yourself for having any part of it. As a matter of fact, just to prove that you have morals and values, you should sell them to us at no markup and we might think of forgiving you.
