yes

That 7700 got gim...err, painted. Also, I would recommend to stay away from a couple of things: Tigerdirect (especially if you want rebates from them) due to some people having lousy Customer Service experiences with them, as well as SLI configurations due to some people having problems getting dual cards to work. Time is the cure for all ailments, though, so in a few months, all should be well. Good luck!

PS: Why in the name of god would you want a DVD-ROM if you already are gonna have a DVDRW? Dual drives are kinda pointless now, since 1:1 disc copying is pretty much kaput.

http://secure.newegg.com/app/WishR.asp?ID=1196591

and this motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProduc...152-049&depa=0

That's with a screen (has built in speakers) and without a sound card/speakers. If you'd post more specifically what you want it for I could make it cheaper, but this should be able to do pretty much anything.

EDIT: I can't believe I forgot the operating system. Here's Windows XP Home: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...102-151&depa=0
And that's still below $1600.

I like that wishlist. A few suggestions, though...why 2gb of RAM? That won't be necessary or even very beneficial for a while, unless he does a lot of video editiing and such. Also, I would suggest a bigger 7200rpm drive instead of the WD raptor, because althought they are sweet, they are ridiculously expensive. If you ask me, a 160/200gb SATA 7200rpm should be just fine and a good 80-100$ cheaper .

EDIT: Also, to me that videocard seems kinda "meh". use the money you saved from the HD and ram downgrade for a 6600gt, or possibly a 6800 non-ultra.

You made some good suggestions, Okle. I personally would like a faster harddrive as opposed to a bigger one (I don't use much space). And now that I think about it, I've got absolutely no idea why I put 2GB of RAM instead of 1GB, especially with a value brand . Also, yeah, with that saved money a 6800 would be a great choice.

I used zipzoomfly to buy all my parts. You have to consider the cost of shipping and handling as well as tax. I live in Jersey so they DID charge a 6% tax. The best thing to do is use both Newegg and ZipZoomFly, a lot of pieces I found came out to be cheaper on ZipZoomFly because I saved on the shipping and handling and tax.

Antec Mid Tower Solution Series "Quiet"
Antec TruePower 480W "True"
1 GIG of PC3200 Crucial RAM
Chaintech GeForce6600GT
AMD 64 3000+ Winchester
Seagate Barracuda Ultra ATA 7200RPM 120 GB
GA-K8NF-9 Motherboard
Zalman 7700AlCU Heatsink
Thermaltake ATX PSU Adaptor for 24 PIN
Windows OEM Home SP2
Total: 1064.60 dollars
Saved a good 50 bucks off shipping and handling from ZipZoom's free 2 day shipping and another 50-60 bucks without newegg's tax. Mwave, ZipZoom, and Newegg are all great stores with great ratings so you can trust your stuff to come from them at a speedy pace, buy from multiple stores and you got yourself an even better bargain.
