What drivers might help my 4780-V

It's time to reformat my machine and I'd be interested in any ideas/links to help get the best result. I'm not really sure what "out-of-the-box" would benefit from updated drivers but willing to make some changes.

Here's the basics:

Sager 4780-V
17” WXGA
3.2 P-4 w/Hyper-Threading
1024Mb @ 400MHZ
60GB 7200rpm
Windows XP Home
Aver TV Tuner Studio II
Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo

Is it worth the effort to make an SP2 slipstream disk before I get started?

Thanks for any help I can get as this is my first laptop.

(sorry about my other post in tech section)

do you mean in addition to the drivers that come with the computer? use omega drivers for the graphics card and get updated sound and lan card drivers at realtek's web site. The links for these are in various places on the board. Personally i only run sp1 on my 4780 though.

Yes I do mean in addition or more recent updates from the original disk. I've been looking around and saving links based on some of the posts I see here in the forum but sometimes I get a little confused as to compatibility. Some of the hardware models are still a bit of a mystery so I may run a diagnostic tool to be sure what I've got. Just can't find it in my docs.

Your suggestions and advice seem on target from what I've read and I'll probably do exactly that.

One other question. Is the AVER TV software ever updated? And should a little choppiness be expected when the action speeds up on the screen? If it were just a little better in that respect it would be very useful to me.

I have a 4780 and run XP SP2 without any issues.

The most important driver change would be for the video card. You should be running the latest version of the Omega drivers. You can get them here: http://www.omegadrivers.net/ati/win2k_xp.php

Other than that I haven't really noticed any beneficial changes with updating my drivers.
