I am NOW planning to get the Sager, not the Falcon!

Hey all...

Well, yesterday I said I was getting a Falcon DR...but I found a site called powernotebooks.com, and they sell Sager, and their resellerraiting is very goo. I called them, and they helped me to understand that the only fair comparison of a Sager N9860 to a Falcon was to the Fragbook DR 6800. The DR uses a diff chassis, and is no where near as good....and is still more expensive.

I configured an N9860 Force at powernotebooks for $3500, and it has 2 60 GB 7200rpm drives, a 3.6 intel, the nVidia 6800 356mb card, tv tuner, Dvd +\-R, CDRW, built in wireless 801.11g\Bluetooth combo, 1024mb ram, softcase, Office Business Pro software, XP Pro, adapter, and I think that is it.

Well, the same thing with Falcon was $5300! And I would have to buy the Office Pro separately!

I was ignorantly comparing the Fragbook DR......ah well.

Falcon is near where my father lives, who is in a dying process, and it would be so easy for me to travel to Falcon with any issues...but the 2 grand extra is not doable.

How about it all...am I making a good decision to go with powerbooks Sager? Any and all feedback is welcome.

BTW, Falcon is so nice...I spent 2 hrs on the phone with the guy wracking our brains on how to get a Fragbook, but in the end, he flat told me that the other computer was a better buy for the money. So please save any critical comments about Falcon, other than their prices. In all other respects, they were fabulous.

Powernotebooks was nearly the match in how great the guy was on the phone. He spent about an hour answering EVERY question, and helping me to accurately compare computer apples to apples.

Well....let me start by saying Sager is a very good company and there notebooks are among the best. PowerNotebooks also being a very good reseller company. But the Falcon is probably the prodigy of all resellers. They have great customer service..their no dead pixel policy is great (But I wouldn't call it free because of the outrageous price!!! Probably is all included!)...Plus their paintjobs are done by SC* which means they are probably killer. But the only problem is the price holds you back from making the machine its best. What I'm saying is if you want a powerhouse machine then go with the SAGER but if your looking for style and good customer service(not saying powernotebooks or sager don't have good customer service) then you should go for the Falcon.

*I would buy the sager and paint the notebook myself: go to the dell forums and look for dell case mod sticky and you can learn how to paint most laptops.

I have spent 15 minutes with the Falcon rep on the phone and he told me pretty much the same thing...that the Sager NP-8790 was a more economical alternative without compromising on performance.

He did say however that with Falcon you have guaranteed LCD's, fantastic support, amazing cosmetic customization options and the chance to get a unique laptop.

I asked him who his customers were and the names he threw at me were quite stunning...Think Hollywood, NASA, F1, Nascar etc...

I will get one someday - just because they are solidly behind the customer. And I want a laptop with my company logo on the lid...
