Thats intersting....
It shows the XPS2 has better battery life than a 9200.
But XPS2 is heavier for weight. That could be explained if they force you to use the 80WHr battery as default instead of the 53WHr. So it still could be the same.

But XPS2 is .07 inches thicker, Maybe for the Glow in the dark lid?
Yes good catch. Now if they will just post the image so we can see what it looks like.

Edit: Either way, I believe this is the first public available link that shows the Dell XPS2 does infact exist. Can anyone remember any other links or reviews that stated it before today that were more than just rumors?

Here's a little more infomation leakage:

The XPS2 will have LEDs that illuminate the fans, the speakers, and the back panel. You'll be able to control color and insensity via software. It'll be like having a portable disco

Edit: a couple more factoids just in. Spec's for the go 6800 ultra say DDR1 instead of GDDR3. I've read public info that indicated the core will be clocked at 450MHz and memory at 600MHz. The 9300 version of the go 6800 will be clocked slower, and will *not* be swappable with the XPS2 version.

I wonder why they aren't using GDDR3?
Mmm... LEDs add so much to battery life. Can't wait!
If they can be controlled with software they can be shut off with software, and if they cannot they are built in such a way that it does not matter =)

But thats some sweeeeet links up there. And I am still clinging to my theory that XPS2 = 9300.

They do add weight though so that's annoying

Yeah, I'm getting out my spraypaint now. A little touch-up, and I'll sell my 9200 on eBay as an XPS2 prototype

6 USB 2.0 ports? Sounds like someone finally got something right.

I don't know how reliable that source is, but DDR1 memory just doesn't make sense. The bandwidth cap on that would make 16 pixel pipelines totally useless. Just look at the difference between the DDR1 6800 and the GDDR3 6800 on the sager 9860.

Besides the obvious performance difference, consider this: GDDR3 has a smaller voltage (1.8-2.0v) than DDR1 (2.5v).

Interesting.

It might be that they just copied and pasted the specs from the earlier go 6800. Supposedly, DDR1 does have some power consumption advantages due to the absense of on-chip termination, but that advantage goes away at higher frequencies.

You guys have an awesome knowledge of what's happening at Dell. (Figure my frustation when the CSR at Dell says "what's 9300 - there is no notebook like that")

I have been putting off a laptop purchase simply waiting for the new notebook. I had actually ordered a notebook when I saw a post stating 9300 will be out on 2/24.

Hopefully in a few days I will know how much does 9300 or XPS2 with 1 GB/2 GHz/nVidia6800 or X700/128VRAM/80 GB HDD/DVD+/-RW and SXGA cost. If it is too much will just have to go with D610 or D810.

Still Dellbert - great to see the picture. Guess it means it will be 17"

See that join date below my name, Jun 2004? That's a month after I decided to buy a notebook. I've been waiting for the right notebook since then. If the XPS 2 does have the 6800 Go ultra with 16 pipes, and a pentium M, I am going to buy it.

I second that motion.

Ditto...
I've been impatiently waiting to dump the Alienware for another Dell. The grass was NOT greener on the other side. The other side SUCKS. Onsite service is worth its weight in gold!!
