Laptop Suggestions

Thread Starter
I'm sorry to start another thread on this subject, but I've talked my way into confusion.

Here are my needs/wants for a laptop:

Portability < 7lbs
=/>512mb RAM (333mhz @ the least)
=/>80GB hdd (would love another 7200rpm, but I can deal with 4200rpm until I upgrade)
>12" screen (wide not an issue but it is sexy)
Processor is not an issue, but check out my needs below.
Dedicated video >128mb
Battery 2.5+ hours
Price: Around 2k.

What will take place on my laptop:
Photoshop 7 (and soon CS) will be ran frequently for purposes of photo editing and painting using a Wacom. (file sizes exceed 80mb OFTEN)
Use of Nikon Capture (a memory hog to say the least, but best if I shoot all RAW/NEF files)
Word
Excel
Downloading my music
iPod playtime
Online Poker
DVD Burning (don't ask and I won't tell)

Then the standard web surfing.

Things such as wifi and such are pretty standard so I am looking for comparable models to the Acer Ferrari 3400. I like Acer, I don't care if I have to stick to them. The Ferrari has what I want but I am not too concerned if the laptop is shinny and red or not.

Are there models in the same price range that have the same specs if not better? Or have I managed to nail it down? The only thing I wonder about is the battery life. At school all I will be doing is taking notes in Word and surfing the net from time to time when I can get away with it. Will the battery in the Acer support my needs to have a laptop that can stay on for at least 2.5 hours?

Thanks for your help all.
Oh and PCTorque, they seem to have great presence around here, are these forums ran by them or are they just a company that cares? Either way, does anyone know why they don't have the Ferrari 3400 for sale?

To know where I come from:
2.4ghz P4
1gb DDR 2700
256 nVidia GeForce video
DVD RW
CD RW
21" CRT

I know a desktop replacement sounds like my choice, but I need to be able to take this to college with me. I only go a couple of nights a week, but I must be able to carry this and a book or two.

Oh and also, is there a SD to CF type adaptor because in another thread someone informed me that the laptop 3400 ferrari doesn't support CF cards and that is what I use.
I kind of wish they'd build the 1710 all over again but make it 6.6 lbs.
