This is really getting annoying now... Does anyone on this forum have any of Jeremy's personal information they could privately share with me? His cell phone has been nothing but useless. How else can I get in contact with him?

Can't wait until my next online trade...

I suggest you contact the TrollHunters at this point.

http://trollhunters.com

Make sure to tell them that it is the same guy as the one over at anandtech and provide them with a link to that thread.

Also, Aurora posted this in the other thread:

http://notebookforums.com/attachment...achmentid=3708

Has a possible address for this Jeremy Oliver.

Well, Jeremy is taking his sweet time. Too bad because he has forced me to notify "other" parties.

I really do not want to make my actions TOO public, but I would like all of Jeremy's victims to PM or email me at rando191@hotmail.com . I want to help you all as well and I need your complaints.

I have a pretty good feeling about all this. I hope we can work together and put a stop to this mess.

If by other authorities you mean the police or the fba, I think they have already been contacted. But I guess it does not hurt to contact them again.

sorry to hear that , If he was on the forum, he was connected to a computer to do it, which means the site should have a log of his IP address. if the guys was smart he would have done it at a library but chances are he's not and he used his home computer or a friends. Track down the IP address and see who its registered to, you may have to go through internet providers to find a billing address. Don't lose hope, there is alot you can do to catch this guy if you go through the proper channels.
My suggestion is make a new name on the forum and make a fake offer of having a nice laptop to sell/trade and go through with the deal only instead of sending the fake laptop send a tracking device, almost anything can work for this, a cellphone, a garmin gps even a jerry-rigged lojack device. send it to his house and you got him. good luck keep us posted

Would any of his emails leave a trace of his IP? Granted all the emails he has sent me are through gmail? What should i do once I get a hold of an IP addy?
He uses a cell phone to connect to the net, or at least he did so when he was here under the name karkass.
get the address and send him a tracking device thorugh ups. put 1lb and a5lb weight in it so it fells like there is actully a computer in the box, secure it with duct tape so it doesnt rattle. if he is sending it to a fake address or someone elses address he will probably transport it to his house b4 opening it.

Man, I think we have all been watching to much of CSI with all this tracking stuff. That type of equipment, with a GPS and a transmitter would cost more than the silly notebook. And you would have to make yourself a custom build or higher some one for just that much more money, kind of drastic I think for a little notebook.

Maybe as a general rule when selling a notebook it is best to install some tracking software that will broadcast to you the IP address as soon as it is hooked up to the internet. Ya, they could format and delete, but would a lazy scammer do such then go through the hassle of a reinstall to sell the notebook. All you would have to do is report it stolen and even if the notebook was resold you could get it back by getting law enforcement involved. The big thing about law enforcement is they need facts to act on. They will not be spending tons of time tracking some one down for you. Now if you can track him down then write up a very nice presentable case then that is when LE can be of great help by providing the muscle and enforcement tools. This is the kind of crime where the victim must do alot of the work if you wish to have results. A phone call or vague letter just does not cut it and will only result in a polite response from the LE angency with no followup.

GOOD LUCK GUYS!

I'd also suggest if you've got some tactics to snag him with, you might want to keep it to PMs. Otherwise, why wouldn't he just come here, read the thread, know what you're doing to catch him and give him a chance to cover his tracks?

Kind o' like chasing a criminal in a building and yelling, "I'm Coming TO GET YOU NOW!" at 'im.

If you're looking at out-of-country tracking, it's a bit harder. The transmitter needs to send its information somewhere, and unless you have a satellite account, I doubt you can bounce it off those.

You could use standard VHF/UHF transmissions, but you'll have to track locally.

If you think about it though, wouldn't it be easier to get Interpol or the local authorities involved, send using Fedex or UPS, and then get them to track the package?

Once Fedex or UPS has it, they should be able to track it just fine, don't you think?

Just a thought.

Oh man that's horrible sorry to hear about that. I followed the links to trollhunters and anandtech, but stopped before I got to his heatware, cause I don't think I even want to see it from the stuff posted at anandtech. I'm wondering if I should even be posting my laptop here for sale.

Just be careful on how you proceed with selling, Ernest. It's worth your time (and money) to be careful. Getting greedy and trying to hurry a deal is a sure way to get in trouble. If someone needs something ASAP and isn't willing to verify details, etc., then pass on the deal. Let them buy from Best Buy if it's really that urgent. Slow and steady. Isn't guaranteed to save you as I've been taken a couple times, too, but it'll prevent you from falling prey to some of the easier cons around.

Late Saturday night, get home and no email from Jeremy. Why would someone do this to himself? Does he not realize that I wont just "forget" what's going on here? I'll give the investigation a rest until Monday. Not like I can make many phone calls on Sunday...

Thanks for the input guys, I'm glad people are reading this post and understanding what I'm going through.

Please feel free to PM or email me (rando191@hotmail.com) suggestions / info regarding this mess.

Thanks!

Well, nothing has happened yet... Jeremy says i'm being "impatient" . Right. $2050 is on the line here... I should be more than impatient. What an idiot. I hope the attorney general fries his ass... cause if not, my attorney will! He honestly thinks i'm just fooling around here which is the best part.

Jeremy Oliver is officially the scum of this message board... hope you're reading this!
