are there any guides for extracting/replacing the optical drive? I have a dvd/cdr combo which I wouldn't mind replacing it with a dvdr drive but it doesn't seem so easy and there doesn't seem to be any info on this forum...

Power laptop on and open CD Drawer, then power off leaving the drawer open.

Flip the laptop upside dowm and remove the two screws under the optical drive. Pull out drive. It is that simple.

I was thinking of adding a few simple how-tos to the page as well. I just quit one of my two jobs so I'm going to have some spare time to work on things. I will put this on the list.
