Hi.
I looked all over several forums and can't find what I need to learn so I'm asking out loud.
I have an Insperon 3800 that I don't use much. I know it's old and outdated, but I need it mainly for e mail and light browsing while on trips.
I recently got a generic usb data cable to connect my Nokia phone to this laptop, but I can't seem to get the computer to use this connection for internet connectivity. The software disc that came with the cable does appear to have downloaded a driver and windows has detected a new connection, but I can't seem to get the laptop to use this connection as a new modem.
I suspect that there is some kind of port configuration that needs to be done, but that's where I'm lost.
Dial-up networking detects only the standard internal modem but does not seem to know about the cell phone connection through the usb port as an alternate dial up connection (the dial-up networking folder does show any connection options other than the internal modem).
This laptop is still using Windows ME (when it isn't locking up!) and the port configuration(s) are unchanged.
Any suggestions on how I can get this thing working?
TIA
Tim
