Im a little annoyed, I bought the 5500 laptop, and paid with a visa. Its been days and still they havnt credited my account or shown any activity on my order, its still on Phase 1 and I havnt recieved any tech support whatsoever on this situation, does it really take more then 48 hours to process an order? Would it be wise to cancell the order and just go with a differant company?

They did not respond to me...it took them almost a week to process my order and it still came only one day late from estimated ship date

well, if thats the norm i will continue to be annoyed, but deal with it. thats pretty poor customer service if you ask me, they didnt even reply to my emails from tech support about getting an account number to use their support database, sigh....i quess once i get my laptop i wont be so annoyed. i never did like any customer service.

WTF are you complaining about? You should thank God everyday your sorry arse is not in Iraq. Everything else is just gravy.

WOW, words of wisdom from DB!

i ordered mine on 12/27 and i'm also still in phase 1. :P

the 7700 is my second alienware -- the first was a desktop in 2003. i remember the order process back then leading up to actually getting the computer sucking big time -- worst big-ticket purchase experience i've ever had, bar none. defnintely seemed like nobody at AW knew what the heck they were doing and everything took way longer than it should have.

that said, i've had my desktop for over a year and it's easily been the best performing and most reliable computer i've ever had. so, i ordered my 7700 fully expecting a pathetic experience up-front (and i haven't been disappointed -- i already received an email offering free shipping on my 7700 and was later told by the sales team that i received the email in error and that shipping would sadly not be free) but hoping to get a rock-solid machine that will happily see me through the next few years.

if i get my laptop before spring i'll consider it a victory.

I ordered my 5500 and payed with a cashier's check. They took the money out a few days later and my order went rolling. Mine is shipping more than 2 weeks early. Just give 'em a call and see whats up. They're good people.

Not everyone has as much money as you, therefore they actually are concerned about things when they drop this much cash for something. And I would be worried about little abnormalities with AW...you need to stay on them like hawks to get anything done right.

That's kind of odd. They charged my Amex almost the instant I placed the order. So fast, it was spooky.

oh, i totally agree that they're good folks -- i don't think they're evil or deceptive, just that they focus way more on post-purchase support than the giving a good experience during the sales and pre-ship phase, even after a few years as a larger company.

as for calling them, i'm guessing you haven't experienced waiting on hold for the sales rep for 45 minutes yet. ;-) and email? i mailed the sales team 5 days ago asking for follow-up on the free shipping mail i received (on their request) and never got a response... this is pretty much identical to the experience i had in 2003, so i'm inclined to think that it's not totally out of the ordinary.

i still think they ship awesome machines, so that's why i'm getting another even though they're batting 0 for 2 right now on the pre-delivery warm fuzzies... i'd never subject myself to this experience if it was dell or HP, but AW gets some additional leeway for making better stuff.

I called them on the phone about the free shipping email and rebate offer I got through email. They honored it for me maybe because I actually phoned them and didn't just email them. But this was before I placed the order. They sent me an email saying if you place your order in the next 24 hours, you will receive free shipping and a $100 rebate. However, the link didn't work. Instead of emailing them, call them on the phone. But don't delete the email. I did have to forward the message to the customer rep that I was speaking with to prove that I had gotten the email.

Bigger picture folks. The dude can get all the high-quality Italian food and trim he could want (assuming it is a he, if a women, she can get all the strapping Italian well-endowed men ). So be glad you are not in Iraq having to wear a target.
