Think of it this way: you knew the day would come when your laptop would be obsolete. Dell is just helping you get that part of your life over with early, so you can move on to using your perfectly good lappie

LOL. At least the delay in shipping my system means that I will be closer to the release of any new units w/i my 21 days.

Hehe. Heh. Dell care?

Maybe they do care... or maybe they don't want their competitors getting hold of that information.

If the 9300 is real it will break my heart. I have waited since the $750 off coupon to order myself a laptop (missed out on the 9100 due to not ordering it at 3am PT). I finally decided that a 9200 should be good enough though I was concerned about the graphics (MR9700). If the 9300 is real I will need to return my 9200 and wait until another good discount comes around (got about $800 off my 9200 taking it down to 1340 before tax).

Those Bastards

The day has come! We must decide if Corporate America has the ‘power’ or do the individuals feeding the giant. If we continue to relinquish our freedom of speech,( in this case a post on the World-Wide-Web) to those profit grabbing corporate monsters all mankind will eventually pay a dear price.

Removing the post was only the first step in defeat, next comes the form itself.

Napster the first P2P site prompted Apple to introduce the iPod, the first MP3 recorder. At that time the only music available in the MP3 format was that shared through the P2P website mentioned. We all know sharing music infringes on the copyrights of the music industry, not he artist. We all know the legal ramifications of such; however did that stop Apple for providing the necessary hardware to copy the illegal music? NO! Did they profit from the illegal activities, YES! Should we stop posting the things we know or the things we think?

Yea, Dell cares... They don't people waiting to buy a new laptop because of something new coming out in a few weeks. They want AND need their sales in January because January 31 is the end of their year. This is the last month to hit their quarterly and annual numbers...

The difference is this forum is held by a legitimate business in PCTorque. PCTorque therefore would be held responsible for any legal infringements or such.

Notice the post still exists on another forum most of us visit.

Could you share the link please?

In my understanding of the Law, a seller is not responsible for the actions of those individuals whom purchase goods or services. Example: Apple’s MP3 player, Wal-Mart selling ammunition to murderers, etc…

How could a reputable business (Notebook Forums) be held responsible for the posting of its members? Or put another way, how could a business be held responsible for confidential information leaked by Dell employees, suppliers, or venders?

Notebook Forums is held responsible only if Notebook Forums does not remove the post when requested (e.g. cease and desist). This is standard DMCA.

I understand your point, but really...quit whining. It's reasonable that they wanted it off, NBforums agreed with them, you aren't negatively impacted, move on and wait the three days until you can see it legitimately

Don't take this the wrong way, but if you keep on waiting for the "perfect" system, you'll never get any computer. Technology will always improve; as much as I want an M70 over the M60, the M60 will suffice for what I need it for at a far lower price. I'd suggest that the 9200 is all that you will need for a long time, and would be wise to keep it for a long time.

Unfortunately, Dell, like every company, has confidentiality agreements that it would like to uphold. How would you feel if someone leaked information about you on the WWW? While those images were indeed in the public domain and here on NBF, Dell has the right to ask that they be removed. They do, after all, belong to Dell and are an indication of where Dell would like to take its line. It's unethical for other companies to improve their products based on what future Dell products are mentioned in an ad, but nonetheless, Dell needs to take measure to ensure this doesn't happen. NBF was justified -- completely -- in removing the thread.

I totally agree gmnstrunr37. Just seems lately I have gotten the best of the old not the best of the new (X30 3 weeks before X50v, old DJ20 6 weeks before new DJ20 was announced, etc). The laptop will be used for gaming, personal SW development, and general fun.
Kind Regards,

I'm holding out for the 9400.

I guess Dell doesn't want to be 'Osborned'
The only reason why Dell (and other companies) ask (and sometimes force) sites to take down leaked information and photos is because they want people to think that their current product line-up is still fresh will be around a bit longer and worth buying. Leaked information makes us all want to wait until the refreshed models come out (as noted above by several users responses).

Of course, Dell is not going to like this if the site that this info was leaked on has a large user base (potential buyers) where this info and pics can be spread around the net in matter of days before it hits the big sites.

Okay, so that is just stating the obvious - but, I think that Dell would still ask to remove this information whether it were true or not as both fact and or rumor will halt people from buying current hardware if they are lead to believe that new stuff is known to be right around the corner.

I can't wait for the 9400!!!
Heck; just wait for the 10000!
Dell won't delete this thread, will they?

Alviso/Sonoma is being released on the 19th, I suspect the new Dell laptop will be announced then.
