Yes, I am not aware of an "Archos Lyra 2780", I am however aware of an RCA Lyra RD2780. Archos has a Gmini series, AV100 series, AV300 series, and an AV400 series.

The Archos GUI is much more appealing than that of the RCA's. They use an icon system, similar to that of a Palm.

Well, I do know that it is not possible to say view a picture while listening to music. I am not sure about actually browsing though. I imagine if you Googled it, there would a response much better than mine.

"Fabien,

According to the review at the link above, the AV420 does support on-the-fly playlists.

'The AV420 uses the Archos Double Browser system, which makes putting playlists together as easy as can be. In short, it keeps a running list of the songs you select on one side while letting you browse the directory, selecting songs from the other. As always, you can also create them on your PC via MusicMatch, Itunes (plug-ins included) etc.'"

that answers one question, and a few others. its all about the AV420, id be getting the AV480, but they are the same, only different sizes right?
