Thread Starter
Will do review soon, sorry about the quality of the pics, I'm in a cafe at the moment, so I can't use my flash, sorry about the size too, my camera does not take small pictures.
If anyone wants special pics of certian locations, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

As I am absolutly horrid at writing reviews, I'll just go through each item and give my thoughts, impressions, et cetera.

Warranty: 3-Year AlienCare Toll-Free 24/7 Phone Support with Onsite Service Bundled with AlienAutopsy and Respawn
The warranty I am very happy with, their tech support is quite excellent, Respawn(The reason I had to speak with AWTech in the first place) I am less than pleased with...I have a similar program on one of my other computers, and use it quite often, but AW sent me a corrupted image DVD, so when I used it(I like to test all software disks, etc. when I first get them, much better than finding something doesn't work later on) it erased my HD, found the image to be corrupt, and basically killed my machine. I should have tested the integrity of the image first, but I didn't think to...my bad. Back on subject: AWTech responded within two minutes of calling(at 2am florida time, by the way) and we went through the problem rather quickly, they had several great ideas and we worked from there.(I didn't know at the time that the HD wasn't formatted, and winxp wasn't booting, so we really were spitballing in the dark...and they are very good at narrowing problems, by the way.)

Operating System: Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional with Service Pack 2
What can I say, it's nice, it lacks in areas, but it is nice. I like SP2.

Case: Alienware Exclusive Sentia Case -Space Black
It's beautiful, sleek, sturdy, the case is made of a rubber of some sort...kind of, it is very sturdy, and all of the poor Gateway and HP users who I've shown it off to have been very jealous of the studiness...it just doesn't compare to the lesser beings.

Processor: Intel® Pentium® M 755 2.0GHz 2MB L2 Cache 400MHZ FSB
Fast, blazingly so, much faster than most p4 machines I see(of course, that's also partly the fault of my RAM )

Motherboard: Intel® 855GME+ICH4M Chipset PC-2700 @ 333MHz
It works well, I don't know much about such things, so I'll shut my trap.

Wireless Network: Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200 Network Connection
Very nice, I came to a hotspot, turned on my machine, and was surfing withing about thirty seconds.

Memory: 2GB DDR PC-2700 at 333MHz - 2x1024 SO-DIMMs
Me Like. Very Fast.

Hard Drive: Hitachi 40GB 7200 RPM ATA100 with 8MB Cache
Silet. Fast. Me Like Lots.

Monitors: 12.1" Wide-XGA 1280x800 LCD Display
The viewing angle is huge, the display is beautiful...I like the widescreen ratio, and the 60hrtz refresh rate is as good as any CRT I've used-better than most, actually.

Video Card: Intel® Extreme Graphics 2 Technology
Very Nice, only 64, but very nice nevertheless.

Sound Card: Sound Blaster Pro Compatible 5.1 Digital Audio
I like it, it works for me. My headphones kind of make it obsolete though.

Smart Bay One: 8X Dual Layer DVD+/-RW / 24X CD-RW Combo w/Software
what can I say, fast, efficent.

Ethernet NIC: Integrated 10/100Mb Ethernet NIC
Have not net used it, so no comment.

Modem: 56K Modem with V.90 Technology
See preceeding comment

Mobile Transport : Alienware® Premium Backpack
I like it a lot, it fits my machine and all the jazz I need to carry around to boot.

External Storage: IOGear® 200GB Combo ION™ Drive
Big. Worked as soon as I plugged it in, and it seperated into six 30GB(roughly) drives.

Additional Battery: Sentia 12.1" Primary Lithium-Ion Smart Battery Pack
Additional AC Adapter: Sentia 12.1" 65-Watt AC Adapter
Won't even bother with these, except to note that the aditional adapter they sent was the wrong type(a situation which was remedied within 24 hours of getting my system)

Headphones: Ultrasone HFI-650 Professional Headphones with S-Logic™
I'm in love, my family is in love, many of my friends are in love, they're perfect. total sound immersion better than any I've seen with SS tech.

Optional Mouse: Microsoft® IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 - USB - Space Black
Decent. Wish it was a LasMouse though, the cord is very long...about three meters I beleive, but I havn't uncoiled it since I've unpacked it, so I'm not sure.

Removable Storage: Alienware® USB 2.0 256MB Flash Drive v2.0
I Like. Beats the crap out of my old FD.

Digital Cameras: Canon Powershot S500 Camera
Flash Memory: 512MB 40x Lexar Compact Flash Card
I like it, the quality is amazing, it's a pity that my card reader is only SD, but that isn't hard to get around at all. The 512 card is a must.

Productivity Software: Microsoft® Office 2003 Professional Edition
I like, the voice recognition Software is very nice, once you train it a bit.

Alienware Gear: Alienware® Clear Acrylic and Stainless Steel Tumbler
It's nice, keeps liquid cool, which is what I need.

Alienware Gear: Alienware® Hat Black
Apparel: Alienware® T-Shirt - White - Price Includes $5 Instant Rebate
Apparel: Alienware® T-Shirt - Black - Price Includes $5 Instant Rebate
It's a hat and they're T-Shirts, what can I say? I have been wearing the tees a lot though, if that's any indication. (Just so you are forewarned my [former] Girlfriend complained that I have no taste in clothes, she never liked the fact that I just wear what I feel is comfortable.

Desktop Enhancements: Exclusive AlienGUIse Theme Manager
Wasn't Preloaded, so no comment.

Free Alienware Mousepad: Free Alienware® Mousepad
Very nice pad, I use it a lot.

Okay then, the other stuff:
I can leave it on in excess of twelve hours, and it's only slightly warm, kind of a pleasant feeling actually.

The Battery will last over three hours using the media player(with visulazations) and word processing software, don't know how long exactly.

If you want any more info or pics, just post in this thread or pm me.
Have a Happy Day and Buy a Sentia!

So some of you are wanting photos of Alienware's Space Black Sentia...did the best I could to show how it was packaged by a rock star, but the little critter still came out well.
This looks to be a great lappy but have had some issues...
1-Intel Pro card gets lousy reception bouncing from 1Mbps-54 even when 4 feet from router. Updating drivers do not solve the problem.
2-Touchpad is REALLY finicky making brousing the web a pain...will give Alienware another try tomorrow as it just arrived 4 days ago.
3-Expected delivery date...expect it like youre trying to catch a flying saucer! Took them 25 days and 20 days beyond the stated delivery date. As a professor I needed the bloody laptop for my students and wound up buying another Dell...yes the little alien will be staying at its new home and the university bought out the other. But what a PAIN!
GET THIS SOLVED ALIENWARE!!!
Havent had any other issues as of yet and am hoping it to remain that way.
All the best to you and yours!

If you really want, you can download AlienGUIse from the Alienware website. Not sure on the link though, pretty sure you can Google it. Nice system btw. =)
Nice job Bug! Worthy of Da Stick!
I'm going to write a review soon, hopefully. I'd say I've had my Sentia long enough to write a decent review.
I just moved to stage 3 today.. so i suppose it's going ok, the projected date for me to recieve it is next week so i guess its going according to schedule. awesome pics! Just what this section of the boards needed for people to get an idea of the paint scheme

By Request, A few more pics.

Sorry about the size, but a forum member wanted to see it in great detail. Blame Him.
Never mind, too big, forget it, too lazy to change.

As far as the comp goes, still running perfectly, loving the widescreen.
Sorry for this useless post.

More pics!! ^_^
sweet laptop, i have an area 51-m and i honestly say I'm almost jealous, except i may have still gone with the conspiracy blue or saucer silver, dunno its a tough choice. I just have two questions...
1) is the black paint flat or shiny metallic?
2) what color are the alien eyes, in one of your pictures they look almost multi colored and iridescent

thanks for sharing the pics. congrats and have fun
post #10 of 34
It looks like its flat black with blue eyes. Covered in rubber hehehe. Can it float to? ^_^
post #11 of 34
I should have a website up by the end of the week with decent pics and a much better review...probably, I'll post it when I do.
The flat black sentia feels like it is rubber. Why is this? The other laptops that are green, silver, etc. are not like this.
omg its all your fault now that i can't sleep tonight. My spaceblack sentia's coming the 19 ARHHHHH can't waaaaiiiitt

nice pics, i didn't realize that it was that much of a flat black. Still lovin it though!

Thanks for the additional pics. My Sentia shipped Friday and is due to arrive Wednesday. At first I felt a little coerced into space black with Alienware's online rebate, but after seeing how cool yours looks in your final picture I'm glad I went with it. Those eyes really stand out with the black...
