Just be happy that you're gonna be getting a couple hundred dollars of pocket money in the near future.

Shit, you know how many people Alienware has to deal with that pertain to configuration changes and price drops. Nothing changes more frequently than the price of computer hardware. I think they do a great job at honoring and accomodating their customers. Since you brought up Lexus, I'm a previous owner. I priced mine out through the internet with Navi. I show up at the dealership and he brings the car up. No Navi. I told him I wanted that and requested it in my configuration. "Oh I must of missed that, well that will take about a week to get that model." Regardless, I bought the car.

U2 - thats what I mean, they worked with you - that's doing business!

As of today my order:
Phase 13: (Production: Shipping)
Your system is being carefully packed for shipping.

Maybe with a couple of extra items

I noticed in your sig, it says your HD is a 80GB 7200 rpm. When did these come out?

I'm not not sure it's a SATA interface going into the AW, my other rig uses the ATA 133 interface of course its not a laptop hard drive.
Hey, you better work out with AW about the rebate or the extra stuff BEFORE they ship it, otherwise no joy on anything. You get what you get, and thats it.

I've seen the pics of the Alienware box (pretty big) maybe the shipping department and sales staff are busy trying to stuff it with Alienware goodies

Does FedEx have a package weight limit

I dont think so, I had a 100 pound subwoofer delivered once...And the AW desktops are 70 pounds. And if its over 150, then they ship it freight (on a big truck)...So no, they dont have a limit.

Awright........I hope they used strong Alien glue when they made that big black box. I'm still in phase 13 they must be stuffin' it full, maybe an extra
Ultra for that SLI mobo.

I dont think so they dont just barter and trade out games and hardware based on what new promotions are released while any given amount of computers are in production. If they did that for you they would have to give that amount of hardware/games/ compensation to every single person who ordered before t he rebate was offered, instead they are doing it the simple way making it much easier to run a business and have any type of organizational way of going about it. I understand what your saying but also see why they cannot and will not accomodate you.

When I called the sales department after receiving an email that they would be glad to honor the promotion I was very optimistic.

I was handed off to 3 different reps. I finally was told that after re-configuring the system I had on order the savings to me would be $225 - great. He told me he would have to charge my credit card $225 - fine, I said. He then said it would hold up my order 4 to 5 days - probably more while he blanked my order paper work. Why I asked, why would this hold up my order since I would have payed full price for the system up front. He responded in a nasty tone of voice with "That's the way it is"!

Now if I was in charge of Alienware and I claimed outstanding customer service that isn't the way it would be! They should have a Sales Department Manager available to make decisions when these situations occur. My system was in stage 13 yesterday morning, has it shipped when I called this afternoon - no - Has Aliewnware called me - no not once, even after I ordered the system like I've read they do. I just don't see the customer service! I'm glad I'm capable of troubleshooting pc problems, cause I'm afraid of what I might find in Technical Support.

But they have to resubmit your order as a new order to give you the $500 rebate. It was like starting your transaction all over again. They have to go through all the early phases again. Receive new $225 payment, process payment, and then they can skip some steps in the middle that have already been done and then continue with later steps. They've had orders since you placed you first order and receiving and processing their payment takes precedence over yours because they were placed first. You basically had to start over since they had to resubmit your transaction.

If you want your laptop now, then forgo the extra money back. If you want the money, then be happy that AW is honoring the $500 rebate. Any you are wrong about all retailers honoring rebates and sales after you have already bought and paid for an item. Usually if a place has a sale, you have to buy at the time of the sale in order to get the % off. Some might, but most don't. Alot of places will meet another store's price or beat it, but once you buy, then you're out of luck.

I still don't understand why you are complaining that AW is willing to save you a few hundred bucks. That's what it seems to me anyway. "AW said they'd save me money. Wahhhh! AW sucks!"

If Alienware had asked I'd drive down and hand 'em the $225 in cash if they'd load my system in the car. The box is packed and sitting on the loading dock what kind of logic do you use to process your thought patterns with. Must be a woman thing

They have had my money since December 12th, how does that put somebody ordering today ahead of me! If I walk into the local Gateway computer store buy their best monitor and system lay down my card and pay, they'd load it in my car pretty quick. And if that same pc and monitor went on sale that week I'm fairly confident they'd credit me the difference and not ask for the system back while they processed the transaction. What are they using to process my VISA - stone tablets & carrier pigeons! I would hope they'd skip all the steps its in the box for heavens sake!

MJDart--

MJDart, if you make an order change, you have to wait for it to be processed. That's Alienware policy, and everybody waits. What makes you so special that they should make everyone but you wait? I paid for my computeup front and had to wait several business days while they processes stupid little changes that I made. So what? It's not like they singled me out.

You are asking them to honor a sale that went into effect after you purchased the product. If I went into my local Nordstrom's (which has superb customer service, bar none) and saw a shirt that I had purchased last week on sale for $40 off and asked them to credit me the difference, they would very politely laugh in my face and tell me "Sorry, thats what happens in retail. You missed it." And they would be perfectly correct in doing so. I think you should be thanking them profusely instead of whining and bitching. You're like a child that's getting everything they want for Christmas, but upset that they have to wait until then. Be glad you're getting what you're getting. Be glad you can afford an Alienware AND be able to bitch about not getting the rebate on it. If you're really that upset, I am sure there are plenty of people who would love to take your computer off your hands.

If you think Gateway would be willing to honor a sale that you missed, please, be my guest and purchase a Gateway. Otherwise, sit down, shut up, and be happy.

slapthemonkey55, right on! Aw has to process any new changes that come in on an order, hence a waiting period. I just can't fathom bitching and moaning when the company is honoring a rebate that came out after an order was already placed. AW is giving up some of them money they already have in their pocket and giving it back and still he complains.

And it's not just a woman thing Several people have told you exactly the same things that I told you...and they were all male.

Nordstroms, I believe would give you the difference or maybe not, maybe that's why the Nordstroms that was at my mall is gone and the space is occupied by a Dillards. I don't think I'm special, I think we all are. Alienware is one of the boutique pc makers. If they go out of fashion they go down the tubes. We decide if they stay in fashion, they should treat us as such. I remember another, much bigger than Alienware - they dominated the market in pc video cards -they're gone RIP 3dfx, Alienware doesn't have a lock on the market, Dell is huge and they are pushing ever closer with the XPS Gen 4 series. If I was Alienware I wouldn't try too hard to upset paying customers.

Thank them for what.....they can't even ship my system thats sitting in their shipping department. I'm not like a child at Christmas, Santa isn't bringing it for me, I'm paying for it.

Stop whining, stop crying. Stop bashing on Alienware customer service because they won't do exactly what you want, when you want. Stop moaning because you have to wait like everybody else does.

Since you seem to be the only one perturbed by this issue, I seriously doubt, thecommish aside, that Alienware will be going down the tubes in favor of Dell's.

You should be thanking them for honoring a sale that went into effect AFTER you made your purchase. If all the people where you live are as unrealistic in their expectations for retail businesses as you are, Nordstrom didn't go out of business, they left so they wouldn't have to deal with all of you.

I think we all are equal, special or not, and that means we all wait and are treated the same (Darth aside becuase he is an ALX pimp and The Man to boot). Alienware CS is doing their best to take care of you, and your here bitching about it becuase they aren't doing it fast enough to suit your gold-plated, high-falutin' ass. Take a drive in your Lexus, watch some midget porn, and relax for a few days.

God only knows how your going to bitch that the rebate isn't INSTANT RIGHT NOW GIMME GIMME GIMME!!!

In closing--
