8mb cache vs 2mb cache .. 60gb 4200rpm - Will I notice much difference?

TIA for any replies.

The reason I ask is because I sent my HP Centrino in for repair and they sent it back to me with a new hard drive but it was a 2mb cache instead the 8mb cache that was in it when I sent it to them.. (long story.. I purchased it from a private party under warranty and never used it before sending it in to get the HD replaced)

Well, I got approval to send it back again...... and they will install the correct hard drive now.. but I really do not want to go through all the hassle of sending it in again and waiting for it to return again.. buncha BS

Is it worth it .. will the 8mb drive give me that much performance gain.. ??

Radeon 9200 32mb
1gb pc2700
1.5ghz Centrino

Yes, it will give you, but still is a 4200rpm, drive so iti is slow anyway.

It might be better if you just go out and buy a faster drive, either one that is 5400rpm or 7200rpm. There will be a difference, but only in transferring small files. Large files will still take forever, and only a faster spindle speed can fix that.
