anyone customize the windows xp login screen on the 9100 widescreens?

any tips?

i am looking into login studio which is free, but most of these are looking like they are designed for 4:3.

thanks.

i did, hate the default one. login studio is great, after you set it up you never know its there. what i found is that many logins do not "fit" well with the high screen res and the the widescreen. there are two things you can do, a) d-load a bunch of logins and see which ones work with the wide screen, many do not; or b) d-load a login you like, then get a good image editing program (jasc paint shop pro, etc, a demo will be fine). after you got that, open the login to edit, and somehow (dont remember exactly) copy the background image to the image editing program. then all you have to do is mess with it and re-size it so it looks nice at your screen res (tried it once but didn't actually use it). you can also try and make your own login, but that takes more work.

in the end i just ended up finding a login that looks ok and works good with the screen res / widescreen i have.

the author for my login is Apocalypse, he tends to make good stuff, here is a link to the login i have (its the first one on the list). the link also has the author's other work which i am going to look at now (might be time for a change). hope this helps.

*update: i now have the half-life 2 login, ... looks great...

thanks.

yeah i tried some editing with a bootskin in photoshop and it worked. the bootskin has to be 640x480. i increased the canvas to 768x480, a 16:10 ratio...filled in the sides. then resize back to 640x480, which looks distorted, but when stretched during boot, looks good.

will try some logins soon too.

instead of making the login fit widescreen then resizing it back to its orignial size you could try resizing the background area of the login itself (not the image but the area the image can fit in) that way you could have a 1920x1680 login for whatever you want. basically a very high res login (dont know about load time though, shouldn't be much...)

will look into it. i know the bootskin has to be 640x480..will look into login screens. i know with logon studio, the bottom right most position for password box still shows almost near the middle, making me think they biggest size is 1024x768. will have to do more research.

check the www.digitalglobe.com for the most awesome ultra high res satelite shots. They look awesome as backgrounds @ 1900x1200. They have about 70 free demo pics of different places around the world.
