G-Ohama questions about 8790.

Thread Starter
Ok so i got my 8790 up and running. Unfortunately they did not do what i asked and make sure they had the latest video bios and drivers installed when they shipped it to me so i geuss i have to do it myself. I particularly wanted to avoid updating the bios.

Anyway if i could get you to do me a favor, i need the new bios and video bios, my bios is like version 1.00.06 i think the new one is 1.00.1. Also i heard there was a video bios.. If you could email me the ISO for them that would be great.. And any tips on how to flash it would be nice also.

I was wondering what ATI drivers you were running also. I thought about trying halflife 2, but with drivers from like 2003 i was iffy. Anyway thanks for all your help.

I don't have the video bios upgrade but do have the 01.00.1 ISO. Please pM me with your email address and I'll dispach it to you in the morning.

You will need to create a CD-R/CD-RW from "image" (ISO). Change the boot sequence so that the CD/DVD drive is the "boot device" and reboot. It automatically executes a batch file for the BIOS update. When completed, you may should go into BIOS upon the next boot (F2) and insure everything is set correctly. The Gigabyte device is greyed out and that is OK.

oddzball, i just wanted to warn you, if everything on your computer is running good/right, do not update anything. i have the new video bios if you wish to ignore my previous statement. i don't mind emailing both the updated mobo bios and the video bios, they are both from sager tech support.

now, what i have noticed, when i updated my mobo bios, things did not seem right. i can't say exactly what was going on. my temps seemed to be higher, i cleaned my unit and that seemed to help. with the temp increase i began to notice artifacting in my games. i reformatted everything and reinstalled, and i got everything to were it was right again (with the updated bios).

i just installed the new video bios and now my problems are games are locking up, 3dmark freezes (both situations result in a hard reboot). when coming out of standby, my monitor artifacts (the whole thing is different shades of pink/red). i can not get omega or catalyst drivers to run. when the are installed after reboot i have no screen. i have to hook up an external monitor to get the drivers uninstalled.

i don't know if i did anything wrong during the 2 updates, if there are certain procedures i should have taken please let me know. all i did was burn the 2 updates to seperate cds and rebooted. i let the 2 programs do their business and walla nothing but problems.

i know people have not had problems, but i have and i WOULD NOT suggest doing anything if your system is running right.

well i was using radlinker to oc my video card. restoring my setting to default did not fix the standby issues. after uninstalling radlinker i tested standby 4 times and did not have a problem.
