Similar to the M6BNe except with a 14.1" screen. Has the latchless lid like the W1N. I bet this will be a winner for those that have been complaining that the M6 is a bit too heavy.

Wow...thanks for the update! Curiously enough, just like when the W1 was first released, the link on Asus' website is sometimes broken.

Wow! Excellent find! I've already ordered a laptop (Uniwill 259IA3) myself, but this one seems like it could turn out to be a great solution for a lot of people.

Niiicccee.

Around 5 lbs, wide screen, ATI 9700, and Asus built.

Looks nice, but I hope they also offer a higher res option. But I am sure it will be a good notebook.

It's got one of the glossy screens, so a WSXGA version would be just great. I'd go back to Asus for that.

Yeah, that's odd. If you go to this page, you can see the W3 listed (top center), but the photo is gone!

Well, it's back up now. It works sometimes but not other times. Exactly the same occurance as when the W1 page first showed up! I wonder if this is deliberate.

What I like about the laptop is its 14 inch widescreen. I am not aware of any others with a widescreen of this size. I think this size is perfect.

Now it's out again. Curious, huh?

It's a "built on" model like the M6 series, so configurations and pricing will be set by resellers. I don't see it on discountlaptops, powernotebooks, or startech yet. My guess is that pricing will be very close to the M6.

Asus' web site/marketing tends to be disorganized, at best. Products I like- lack of consistency with thier sw and website make me cringe... this is coming from an ex-QA engineer, mind you, I got paid to be anal before, now its just a thorn in my side.

There are a few big things on the site I just noticed-

On the W3- built in bluetooth. That will be an Asus first on notebooks. I know they typically dont like adding a feature if its not "industry stable" and from what I have seen thus far with bluetooth- well... lets hope Asus gets the bluetooth stuff right. Dont get me started on widcomm...

Would be nice too see them adding BT in the future, bios disable-able, of course.

This is the whitebox I have been looking for.

I almost placed my order to newegg for a X40 today but I left my card at home.

It is fate!

Hear hear! I can't wait to see when rjtech and other places actually start offering this. I would be more than willing to pay as much for this laptop as for an M6, given the big difference in weight
I think that for a 14" screen, WXGA will be sufficient. Maybe it's just that I don't trust my eyes to be as perfect as they could be, I suppose

Dang this is going to be soo sweet. So is this going to be tip of the iceberg with new companies pouring out with lightweight and gaming capabilities?
it has got the wrong processor in it

Nice!

What is the average time it takes for a new whitebox to hit the resellers?

I am quite anxious!
For the M6, it took more than three months from the time it was seen on Asus' website to US resellers began offering it.

In time for the fall I guess...

Looks worth the wait since it what I have been really looking for.

Time will tell...
