I use Ebay a LOT, but I only buy things with Buy it Now, i never bid unless its like something RARE, which it never is. Just set a good BIN price and say free shipping when you use BIN.

I can’t believe people will pay those prices for a used notebook. I guess I would prefer a new one with a warranty for a few hundred more. You guys are proof that people will buy anything.

NG let us know what you end up getting for it. By the way, what are you going to get if you sell it.

Thanks to all and I will be posting my lappie this Saturday...Flow...I will be getting a 32" Sony WEGA LCD HDTV...hopefully if all goes well...and then I am going to sit out this gen of notebooks and see what 6-8mos from now I can buy...but I will be looking at a desktop from AW in the meanwhile...my luck though, as soon as I sell my lappie they will offer a 256mb ATI 9800 upgrade or worse a PCIe mobo upgrade and I will be kicking myself...hahaha

PS: I'll let everyone know how it turns out...

Heh, I personally wouldn't pay more than a few hundred on a used lappy, but people do so..... Anyway I agree with Craig, but I didn't get the impression NG was willing to sell without the safety net of a reserve.

here's an idea that i know everyone will hate

start it a $1 and put no reserve, make sure oyu tell them there is no reserve, then when the bidding goes up, and if someone gets less than $2500 for it, then take the money and dont give him the laptop! send him a picture of it and then change your name and repeat!

...now that is just wrong and funny at the sametime...I will not be posting a reserve but I will start the bidding at $1950...also wil have a buyitnow price of $2350 with free shipping which would include all the extras I mentioned before...otherwise I will not include the extras unless the final price is above $2300...we'll see what happens...

RIGHT...and then send them ASTU's sig picture. That ought to work them over really good...

Actually it would be ever funnier to post that picture on the auction and see who bids for it. You never know, if a woman can get thousands for a grilled cheese sandwich with Mary's face on it, then you may get lucky. I am sure someone is dumb enough to bid on it.

ill make an auction saying

7700 PICTURE AND BOX, NO RESERVE!!! laptop computer notebook ipod

then id set the auction at $2700 with a buy it now of $3000, and pray.

What I've often done is thrown caution to the wind and started at 9.95 with no reserve. Bidding goes nuts and usually stays very spirited. You usually get fair market value, but not always. You have no protection that way, but it all depends if you are a gambler. sometimes the bidders get caught up and overspend.
