Hello,

I have an 8890 model... a year and a half old now... was working great...

Here's what happened. I was playing HL2 Counterstrike and I thought the brightness was too low, so I went to raise it up in the options menu. As I am moving the slider up to increase brightness, my entire system freezes hard. I turn it off via the power button.

I waited half an hour or so and turned it back on. Oddly, the resolution had defaulted all the way down to 640x480 and the color quality somehow went to 4 bits!!!!!

I cannot change these settings... they are stuck... If I select something different, nothing changes, even though windows asks me if I want to keep these "new settings." I am stuck with 640x480 4 bit.... 4 bit!!!!!

Did my video card (9600pro) somehow get messed up when I tried to adjust the brightness in Counterstrike??

Any help on this matter, anyone?

Thanks,
Jx

Does the LCD go to full brightness if you go into Safe Mode? You might just have to re-install the video card drivers.
