Hi everyone, I was just wondering if there was anything on the market that would boost your wireless reception from your Intel pro wireless card b/g? Maybe there's a program or some kind of device that would magnify your receiptoin. Please advise if anyone knows.

Thanks in advance.

How would you go about building something like this? Is it easy?

Those are for pcmcia wifi cards, which supports an external antenna

While searching on EBAY I found some small cables that attach to the wireless card and have a SMA connector on them. you could mount it in the little slot that is used only for the USB on the D600/800 and then either attach a pigtail antenna or any other external antenna. Just a thought.

lol, I made a booster like that for my usb wireless dongle those things actually work! Mine is made from a wok looking thing. I forgot where I got the page, but making the thing takes about 30 min and greatly improves reception!

I came into this thread just to see what was being talked about and went to the first link in this post. I understand about 1% of the things discussed there and are amazed that people can make their own antenna boosters out of tin cans. Fantastic.

^^^

Nobody else really understands it much better. That is why they call it antenna theory and not fact. The rest of us just act like we know what were doing.

If you are just looking to extend the range for your own wireless network, look into a Belkin Pre-N wireless router. There was a very positive review of it on cnet.com:

According to the review, it will extend the range for all cards better than legal aftermarket antennae.
