Hi im new here and this is my fist alienware purchase. My lap top specs are as follows
3.6 ghz cpu,
1 gig ddr2 pc4200 ram,
Two 60 gig raid 0 7200 rpm hitatchis for a total of 120 gig's
Gforce 6800 256 meg pci express,
7 way card reader
Built in wireless
4 usb 2.0 ports, 2 firewire
CDRW/DVD combo drive and a duel layer DVDRW drive,
17 inch wide screen lcd at 1440x900 res, the screen has a built in camera
4 speakers and a subwoofer.
They gave me a neat mouse pad a teashirt and a free case to cary it in.
The pc took about a month to get since i ordered in pre order faze. when i got it I noticed 1 dead pixel and the sound is sorta messed up ( plays like its only 2 channels and the sub plays highs). The fit and finish is top notch. they neglected to mention with a raid i would need a usb floppy so they offered to over night me one free of charge.( 4 days later i still have not recieved it) They seem to think reinstalling windows and the drivers may sort out my sound . the dead pixel im screwed on one isnt anough to warrant a replacement they said. It gets rather warm but after 2 days of almost nonstop gaming it hasnt overheated yet. But even with crappy service pack 2 installed it has scored a 18344 in 3dmark 2001 se and 8292 in 3dmark03,
These scores smoke my old desktop gaming rig by far.I hope when i reformat and put on sp1 instead of sp2 the scores will go up some. SO if you ask me would i buy another knowing about the possible bugs and hassles? darn right i would.
PS Alienware said to compensate me for my troubles so far they are willing to send me 25$ in MSN coupons.
EDIT: Here are some pics . and does any one know what i can use to monitor the temp sensors and such? i dont see clevo in the list of boards in motherboard monitor 5.

ID like to add on my 05 score and a tip or two. im not very familiar with what scores are considered good i was hoping you all could tell me.
3d01 se 18344
3d03 8292
3d05 3368
is this good for a lappy? i was told this lappy was able to compare to a desktop yet i see much higher scores in some desktop post here.
any way tip for longer battery life.
1 boot up with power unpluged and the bios will run the cpu at 2.94 instead of 3.6
2 unlock the built in frequency adjustments for nvidia cards in the registry using coolbits. once unlocked u can choose 2 d performance and 3 d performance 2 d runs the vid card at a slower mhz and is good for battery. 3d speeds it back up and is good for AC power. also you can manualy overclock or press detect optimal clock speeds.
Here is a example of the performance change
3dmark 2001 se..
AC power, 2D settings 16543
AC power, 3D settings 17700
AC power, optimal settings auto detected 18344
.note. i noticed the optimal settings seem to vary from time to time perhaps depending on the temp of the card.
I am still breaking in the battery and will post some scores in battery mode as soon as i have discharged and recharged it serveral times.
